at London's Tower she rests
her head cradled by curved stone
not unlike the shallow of her stomach
(which was her downfall)
the king admired curves
be it stomachs, breasts or bums
as well as arched eyebows
advertising same, available
but be advised, he bores easily
is not averse to changing course
on the arc of the executioner's axe

Thanks blue and MET for your additions....nice job! Also fun....shall we try a round robin. Do you remember the challee where poets paired to write poems, trading back and forth line by line...that was such fun. What think you, a new challenge, a new thread?
I know it's holiday time, so folks might be a bit busy....should we try?

Oops! My brain and fingers weren't in synch
but I did think, a challenge would be fun, one
where two teamed up and traded
lines or verses, (words would be too tricky)
back and forth, then forth and back
tacking an uncertain course, per force
to come to an agreeable end...
several pairings would be needed
if the call is heeded, in no time
rhyme and poetry we'd see, of varied
length and form, hopefully above the norm
a Yuletide gathering of inspired treats
to seat benath the tree

funny you should say this ..I just got this email and it was so funny...bout the 12 cats of christmas...
On the first day of Christmas when I brought home my tree
My 12 cats were laughing at me
On the second day of Christmas I saw beneath my tree
2 mangled garlands and my 12 cats laughing at me
On the third day of Christmas I saw beneath my tree
3 missing Wise Men
2 mangled garlands and my 12 cats laughing at me
On the fourth day of Christmas I saw beneath my tree
4 males a-spraying
3 missing Wise Men
2 mangled garlands and my 12 cats laughing at me
On the fifth day of Christmas I saw beneath my tree
5 shredded gifts
4 males a-spraying
3 missing Wise Men
2 mangled garlands and my 12 cats laughing at me
On the sixth day of Christmas I saw beneath my tree
6 fallen angels
5 shredded gifts
4 males a-spraying
3 missing Wise Men
2 mangled garlands and my 12 cats laughing at me
On the seventh day of Christmas I saw beneath my tree
7 half-dead rodents
6 fallen angels
5 shredded gifts
4 males a-spraying
3 missing Wise Men
2 mangled garlands and my 12 cats laughing at me
On the eighth day of Christmas I saw beneath my tree
8 shattered ornaments
7 half-dead rodents
6 fallen angels
5 shredded gifts
4 males a-spraying
3 missing Wise Men
2 mangled garlands and my 12 cats laughing at me
On the ninth day of Christmas I saw beneath my tree
9 chewed-through light strings
8 shattered ornaments
7 half-dead rodents
6 fallen angels
5 shredded gifts
4 males a-spraying
3 missing Wise Men
2 mangled garlands and my 12 cats laughing at me
On the tenth day of Christmas I saw beneath my tree
10 tinsel hairballs
9 chewed-through light strings
8 shattered ornaments
7 half-dead rodents
6 fallen angels
5 shredded gifts
4 males a-spraying
3 missing Wise Men
2 mangled garlands and my 12 cats laughing at me
On the eleventh day of Christmas I saw beneath my tree
11 broken branches
10 tinsel hairballs
9 chewed-through light strings
8 shattered ornaments
7 half-dead rodents
6 fallen angels
5 shredded gifts
4 males a-spraying
3 missing Wise Men
2 mangled garlands and my 12 cats laughing at me
On the twelfth day of Christmas I looked at my poor tree
12 cats a-climbing
11 broken branches
10 tinsel hairballs
9 chewed-through light strings
8 shattered ornaments
7 half-dead rodents
6 fallen angels
5 shredded gifts
4 males a-spraying
3 missing Wise Men
2 mangled garlands and my 12 cats laughing at me
but, it doesn't count..I want to be an elf or fairy...and ride on santas sleigh..

lets start new year poet-tree....
I can't have snowy blossoms
or candles under mistletoe
a glass of wine perhaps
to ring in the new year
and all my friends to share
this cheer....
and a card for inspiration

the memory fades of slender fingers
dancing delicately across responsive skin
raising goosebumps in anticipation
of newfound sensations
the memory fades of eager eyes
delighting in the attention from amorous advances
traversing from head to toe, in a campaign
of saturation kissing
the memory fades of two into one
complete immersion within another's mind and skin
sheathed in soul shattering seconds
of utter self abandon
the memory fades of sinuous limbs
draped in daybreaks first rays
wrapped like ivy, clinging to the last moments
of post coital bliss
the memory fades
but not fast enough
that I can pretend
I never knew it

awwww...inspiration...
...............
faded memories
come to life
like holiday season
christmas lights
each a different color
from years gone by
brought back to life
in my mind
presents like toys
of long long ago
and those special people
that no longer glow
christmas tree aroma
and candy canes
memories come alive
as christmas comes

thanks to both of you for the images and feeding the muse in all ...
another winter falls
on her rocking faded chair
faint rhythm bestirs his memory
now planted in lillied fields
quickened pulse unearths
his snow covered
pastures
so the ice will be
melted from his stony soul
to germanate seeds into
the mind of his unearthly garden..

dark passion
has ridden my coattails.
flown through power keg skies
beside, inside me.
showered with my burn,
as it branded every muscle
and skidded across
my molten skin.
this poetic passion
whispers to me,
in the red darkness
then kisses me thoroughly
with bolts of crackling pops
till I am
nothing but a wreckage
torn asunder
thrown overboard
into the murky depths.
leaving nothing but
ashed flesh and singed
bones ...

Happy New Year!
Just wanted to take this time to wish each and everyone here a safe and love filled
holiday and New Year....Ring it in Right!!! live peace..choice...NOW... bluerains/bluedolphin

Winchester Cathedral
Six o' clock
In the morning, I feel pretty good
So I dropped into the luxury of the Lords
Fighting dragons and crossing swords
With the people against the hordes
Who came to conquer.
Seven o'clock
In the morning, here it comes
I taste the warning and I am so amazed
I'm here today, seeing things so clear this way
In the car and on my way
To Stonehenge.
I'm flying in Winchester cathedral
Sunlight pouring through the break of day.
Stumbled through the door and into the chamber;
There's a lady setting flowers on a table covered lace
And a cleaner in the distance finds a cobweb on a face
And a feeling deep inside of me tells me
This can't be the place
I'm flying in Winchester cathedral.
All religion has to have its day
Expressions on the face of the Saviour
Made me say
I can't stay.
Open up the gates of the church and let me out of here!
Too many people have lied in the name of Christ
For anyone to heed the call.
So many people have died in the name of Christ
That I can't believe it all.
And now I'm standing on the grave of a soldier that died in 1799
And the day he died it was a birthday
And I noticed it was mine.
And my head didn't know just who I was
And I went spinning back in time.
And I am high upon the altar
High upon the altar, high.
I'm flying in Winchester cathedral,
It's hard enough to drink the wine.
The air inside just hangs in delusion,
But given time,
I'll be fine.

I loved the pic
and when I read David Crosby, my first thought was "Seven Bridges Road" (I like that song)
have a wonderful and cherished holiday season blue...
this time of year seems to give me the blues for so many who did not make it this far (~_~) then Unbridled's little ray of sunshine comes in and says something cute, reminding me that Christmas is magical to little angels <grin
have a superfabtabulous day!

Embrace Me
Hi,
just looking for some feedback on this one!!
Embrace me, love,
Feel my warmth melt into yours.
All our passion and love
Burning deep into our souls.
I feel you gaze into my eyes
As your hands are touching me softly.
I see forever in your eyes,
As we join to become one.
Your burning love sears me deep inside,
The heat almost too much to bear.
I reciprocate the warmth you give,
A moment like this is why we live.
Our epiphany moment is drawing near,
I whisper your name softly in your ear.
The burning heat gains intensity,
our bodies meld together in unity.
We are in unison as we feel explosions
Emanating from within,
We lie together, spent, in each other’s arms,
To be bonded like this for eternity.
