Great time for you. Totally changes your life, and I mean totally, but so worth it. Never particularly thought about having children myself, just sort of something that came along like mortgage or a car, but now feel so much more important than the more career-type achievements, or even - though maybe not the place to say it - the sex. Pretty much the point of it all I suppose.
Can be tough coping to start with, but remember, a very short time and a very small proportion of your life - later, you'll be struggling to remember it. And they develop so amazingly fast - every week totally different, up to about 6 months.
So - warmest wishes for you, your partner and she/he.

Good evening, all of the great Britons here.
This good weather had knackered me - outdoors in the sun- almost barbeque weather.
bit shocked - got a phone call from the mayor this morning to say two kids from our community (we're only 210 inhabitants) a 19 year old girl and a 21 year old boy, killed in their car not half a mile away on our little country road. 4am.
I've been trying again to get into the general board banter which I find very distracting. Anneski is at least past the dangerous age for driving!!!!
I was in Caen prison on Friday and brought out a pancake cooked by a serial killer to send to a former colleague as a symbol
of my memories of our time working together. No sooner had I posted it than I heard that this person had been forced to resign in a row over policy. Is that not magic?
Deauville beach yesterday - putting worms on hooks for fishing with my youngest son, surrounded by kissing lovers. I felt out of place.
The Lada Niva didn't help, surrounded by new BMW 4x4s, porsches etc. Didn't see any capris.

Sorry to hear about your local tragedy though, very sad indeed when ones so young die needlessly. Bad enough when it's illness.
Although I was never at a dangerous age for driving I'll have you know <grin>
Your day was obviously less than perfect for not having seen at least one Capri, although the fishing sounds good fun.
Perhaps you should visit Somerset one day?

death at a young age
speaking of people dying young, I was very sad to hear about Ben Hollioake dying in a car crash the other day; a young cricketer, he was very talented, so sad. All the friends of my friends that have died have been in car crashes. I don't drive, and walk as much as possible. Cars must be the greatest cause of young deaths? I can't say I will enjoy driving but I will get a car once I have children, ironically. Unless I live on a tiny island in the Carribean . . .
