And then I'd come out of lecture to find an empty pot. There would be no one else there, but he still swore he didn't drink any.

Maybe he just inhaled the fragrance very thoroughly.

I think you may only need to taste different type of coffee, but I get the point.

I considered that possibility, but then I'd have to stop him from breathing in order to preserve the coffee.

Yes. I eventually solved the problem by having my own coffee maker in my office. Did find him in there one day, though, "smelling" the coffee!

'Twasn't the cost, HP; it was the principle. Everyone who drank coffee was supposed to make it as well. He (and two others) claimed never to drink it mostly so they'd never have to make it or clean the machine at the end of day.

I understand that. Just tell him (and the others), that without a hefty contribution to the coffee bill, his sniffin' days are over.
We did this at a place I was working at. An ango-dutch firm, so our ocffee didn't cost quite as much (Dowe Eghberts Black label)
Strangely enough, it worked.

Afternoon, Lasters.
All this talk of coffee larceny is making me thirsty...
I am unwell. Unclean! Unclean!
