Well, winter seems to come as a bit of a surprise to various organisations over here.
For example:
We ran out of road grit & salt a year or two ago [it remains to be seen whether they've learned any lessons].
Then there's the "Health & Safety" mob who seem to think that the population no longer need to take some responsibility for their own actions (well, there's lawyers for all that, ain't there?)

My brother is on his way back to the hospital. Ten days minimum, from what I understand, for medication detox and some sort of blood transfusion. The goal is to prevent future strokes and lower his blood pressure. He's going to be 52 this week and has been dealing with brain aneurysms for roughly three years now.

After his first aneurysm, we discovered they run in the family. So I went in for tests. The tech confirmed I have a brain, but wouldn't let me take a scan home for proof.

Speaking as someone who has a history of strokes and brain haemorrhages on both maternal and paternal sides of the family (3 generations on each!), you have my sympathies. I'm nt a praying man, but I'm sending positive thoughts...
