not sure how many words
craving candles and braile selecting in the soft light,
chrystanthymums and highbush cranberries color
those barrens where the one reservation cop
rides the lighthouse gravel
and the salmon fences
point towards Nova Scotia
at low tide
in the hatchery stench
and the mossy boats
are poised-
oil lamps
and blue cots
at the fuel pump,
quarter moon hangs
in the west.

you can hear the seals on
the Farralons and see the
Japan current slapping
the tiny Islands
like the prevailing west wind
on Easter Island-
statues and overheads
hedgerows and potato fields-
race down for mussels
between the perilous waves.

it's late,
dreams should be greeting me,
but loud thoughts
weigh heavier then eyelids,
the only thing louder
are the constant chirps of critters
outside the opened window.
do crickets chirp?

came merlot and it
was good but carrots
are for smoking then
tilting sideways
through the funhouse
great room for anything
football, foots, balls,
tootsie the mums fell over
again so did I but damn
the coffee is strong and we
awaken warranting the day
calls

I have strange desires
I want to watch the " Ten Commandments" with the sound off
and Bob Marleys " Uprising" on the stereo
I want to drink butter tea in Tibet
I want to touch the Dalai Lama
I want to save women
I want to eat penny candy and feel like I did when I was 8
I want to write the meaning of life in 17 syllables
I want to play my Rickenbacker for 24 hours
3 chords, and sing every blues song i know
I want to understand
I want to die in my sleep
I want to have that " feeling" of belonging I've had at events in my life
the one mind mentality..
I want to see a volcano
I want to go back to las vegas and kiss that korean waitress
and all these desires
are standing in the way
of my true liberation
and even though i know this...
i can't give them up

I sit on my porch and rock with my coffee warming
my hands and look down thru the mountains
at the dry grass in too many shades of brown
and I shudder from the cold
but my gaze travels on to a window seat
where the snow is four feet deep outside
and blowing and every teeny branchlet
is trimmed in ice and overhanging the road
and the fireplace is all there is for life in this house
and I am warm and cozy in my memories.

I take no responsibility for the last three posts. There are ghosts in this machine and they know who they are.

Ride the blue car,
under crabapple
suns-
along fiesty American
waters,
levees
perched as
parallel
to the horizon.
Missouri
tobacco
stands
give way to
Navajo billboards and
Virgrinia Mud
rides west-
chasing the
Sun.
Powerlines
and
Jumper cables,
a sky full of
Stars,
puddlejumpers
like sewing machines
cross Arizona
all the way to
Barstow.

these fall nights
carry a tinderbox
in the breeze
each damp dead leaf breath
each still pond pulse smile
holds the spark of summer captive
