Excellent. I don't think I really need to go to the movies again this summer. No film is going to top this one in the near future. I'll even bet money on it.

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A teenager was arrested early Wednesday in a California theater showing "Spider-Man 2" after a projectionist using night vision goggles saw him using a camcorder to make an illegal copy of the superhero sequel.

The 16-year-old could be charged under a law that went into effect January 1 and makes taking a recording device into a movie theater a crime punishable by up to one year in jail and a maximum fine of $2,500.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's office will review the case and decide whether to charge the teen, who was released to his parents' custody, said Sgt. Mel Amoroso, a spokesman at the Los Angeles Police Department's Devonshire Division.

The film industry's trade group hailed the arrest and credited its recent initiative to offer cash rewards of up to $500 to theater employees who turn in moviegoers attempting to make illicit film copies.

"In theaters nationwide, there are now thousands of eyes looking for camcording-pirates and this incident proves that pirates who use these devices in theaters will be caught," said James W. Spertus, vice president and director of antipiracy operations for the Motion Picture Association of America.

Camcorders account for 92 percent of all illegal copies of films that are sold online and on street corners worldwide, according to the MPAA.

The teen, whose identity was not released, was among the throngs of midnight movie viewers across the country who crowded theaters for the debut of the "Spider-Man" sequel.

According to the MPAA, the projectionist at the Pacific Winnetka theater in the Los Angeles suburb of Chatsworth spotted the teen using a camcorder a few minutes into the start of the film.

He and two others with him were removed from the theater and turned over to the police.

The camcorder contained a recording of the beginning of the film, the MPAA said.

I was glad to see the original pull away from the comic book Spider-Man (neurotic anti-hero) and more towards a typical hero that wider demographics could easily identify with. Hopefully the sequel will maintain continuity in this area.

The reviews so far are outstanding...

Unlike most action effects-laden summer blockbusters, this actually has (gasp, sit down)...good acting and character development.

Sam Raimi rules....from the Evil Dead to this....you've come a long way baby. And Molina is a very good actor too...can't wait to see this!:D

i loved it. it's the best movie i've seen so far this summer. i loved every little part.

I asked 2 guys at Walmart who said they saw it how it was, &, they said it was slow. But, I'll form my own opinion,(hopefully this weekend.)

Cool, thats good to know. I didn't think I would have much interest in the first one because I wasn't into the comics. I enjoyed it thought.

OH DAMN. I was just AT an IMAX theater but all they had playing was Harry Potter and I didn't want to spend 15 bucks for a movie I've already seen. But Spidey 2 on IMAX would be ... WOW.

I doubt it. Every blockbuster movie that comes along, people always think, "well, maybe that will beat Titanic," &, it's still #1 of all time. If ROTK didn't do it, nothing will. I once had hopes for one of the SW prequals, but, after the first two movies were suck fests, I doubt the last prequal has a fat chance in hell of ousting Titanic. I think this movie will beat it's predesessor, but not Titanic. With Shrek 2 still going strong, it may not even beat that.

I honestly didnt really like the first one that much but this one was much better. Great character developement. i would definately recomind it to anyone.

Sounds good!

Welcome to lit. :)

Being a fan of the comic, I'm looking forward to seeing this flick. It has a lot of the imagery pulled from the comic already- the scene where he leaves the costume in the trash was a famous cover. I know they still owe and honor a lot of the original creation so that's nice.

I'm really glad they didn't Batman this movie where adding more villains was supposed to make it better.

Saw it today too. I laughed. I cried. I laughed some more... My cheeks hurt...

Every actor in this flick was at their best. I say that with all honesty, because, well, I don't like Kirsten Dunst at all but she was amazing too. Raimi brings out the best in his people... or maybe it was Bruce Campbell?

Wait... that green goblin to be guy was kinda weak, just like in the first one. That kid has got to go.

Isn't it kinda sad that the highest grossing film of all time is actually mediocre at best? I guess it just goes to show much a major movie's budget goes into advertising.

Still proud I've never seen it. :D

I've only seen part of it actually, enough to know I wasn't interested in seeing the rest.

I knew how it was going to end anyway. :D

The first one was good but not great. The sequel gets everything right. Perfect acting and scripting to go along with some top-notch special effects and action sequences.

Kinda the same thing that happened with X-Men 2. Marvel needs to just let it all ride on these two franchises (and Blade also, if part 3 doesn't suck, that is).

I hope Luke Cage doesn't end up sucking.

It's kinda doing good at the box office. $40.5 million the first day.
