I can live without any form of social media and would love to be able to live without the people who are constantly on it and talking about it.
It's not my fault you have no r/l life and have to have cyber people who only tolerate you because they don't know you.

A few things I don't have/haven't missed:
TV/internet (gone without four of the past six years)
Cell phone/texting
Kitchen gadgets like a blender and mixer
I'm sure there's more.

So far I've lived without cell phones and ATM machines. I hope to continue doing that.

cell phones
Television
Cable TV
cosmetic surgery (when unnecessary)
computers
internet
electronics
gas (oil, oil rigs, tankers, etc)
any "transplant" procedures
satellites (space missions)
anything with the term "convenience"
yeah, just drop me in the early 1900's and I'd be a happy camper.

Most things that give rise to, "How did we live without this!"
Except ginormous widescreen TVs. And the remote control.

I lived without a dryer for about 17 yrs until a friend gave me one. I really like it. In the summer it's no problem to hang clothes but in the winter when it's below zero F it's a real pain to hang clothes everywhere, and you need more stuff because it doesn't dry overnight. I also like dishwashers a lot although I don't have one.
I don't watch TV

I gave up watching tv about 6 months ago. Havent missed it at all.
Havent read a newspaper in several years.
My vision is so bad I'll likely surrender my drivers license soon. I don't expect to miss it.

I hate to break it to you, but Lit is a form of social media.
You're welcome.

I could live without just about any modern invention you'd care to mention. I'm fully capable of running off into the mountains and living like Grizzly Adams.
But fuck that.

In terms of sheer survival you can live a long life without any of those things.
In terms of happiness in my everyday life I would seriously miss Penicillian, the internet, cell phones, transistors, codine, and engines. Those things make just about everything modern usable, and medical procedures unnessicary or at least less agonizing.

every year my lady wife and I try to go to a very large SCA event called Gulf War. It's held in Lumberton MS.
For a week I don't worry about bills or my job or yard work. I don't talk on the phone or drive a car. I don't have to carry a set of keys around to hide my things behind locks to keep them from being taken. A tent zipper is more than enough.
I spend my days resting, shopping at the merchants, watching the fighting, or maybe reading a book. My nights are spent feasting, watching belly dancers, listening to drums, and getting drunk on homemade Mead. I Cuddle up to my lady and under our fur blanket we sleep better than any place else.
there are times when I think I would trade every thing in my house to get to live that life twenty four seven
But I have to tell you come Sunday when I put back on regular clothes, Walk the mile to where the truck is parked. pack it back up and make the five hour drive back home.
It feel so good to get back into my airconditioned home. Take a hot shower with some privacy. and there is nothing that beats those soft pillows under my head.
I could live without just about everything and have a damn good time. But I don't think I will give it a try for more than a few weeks at a time.
