there is so much opportunity when you are laying in bed.
thinking about all the things you can and would like to do.
but something happens in the moment between laying in bed and getting dressed.
some unspoken unthought of thing within that first five or ten minutes cuts down the apt eagerness once had in the the quilted comforting womb known as the bed.
it gets me to wonder if children... moments from being born have similar ambitions about life only to be disenchanted by some sort of stark realization that this is it.

A storm is rolling in and a kind of impending doom is about the air.

I think I can work with that... let' s see...
We met at the landfill eager to see the slag heaps. We could hardly wait to go out and slowly sink our shovels into the well rotted compost knowing that our garden would be the best garden thus yet.
Once we got back home and tilled the compost into the moist soil the cleats of our shoes became packed tight with dirt. On the way back home... hand in hand we stopped to stomp our feet clean in the puddle before we made our way inside. Looking back at the muddy water we both smiled.

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing this morning. I lay in bed thinking of all the possibilities of the day, but then became overwhelmed by the choice and went back to sleep.
