This topic seems fairly common on the How To board (although of a different flavor) and I've seen it oft asked in other sites.

It's no secret that our tools of the trade can be quite expensive. Now grant you, nothing beats a well made high quality tool. But I find there are a lot of things we can create on our own and derive a great deal of pleasure from.

I've found a number of links to "do-it-yourself" projects. Some are good, some aren't so good.

At any rate, I made Wife a few goodies. I had sooooo much fun making them because the entire time I could picture her devilish smile as she surveyed my work. To me it was like a gift presented in gratitude for all she does for me. Unique and all her own. Born of my imagination and my desire.

Here is a pic of a couple of the goodies I've made her. I also braided her a 4ft single tail out of nylon cord. I did that years ago and she wasn't sure how to react to it. Thank goodness she knows exactly how to now!

very nice

I make ribbon floggers for my enjoyment (and the enjoyment of my girlfriend, my boy(s) and whichever friends decide to buy one from me....:D ), and between the 3 of us, we have started quite a collection of homemade toys - I'll have to share some of the pics ... as soon as I find them again.

Thank you and I've loved to see the pics. Always looking for ideas. The two pieces of PVC in the pic I posted are threaded with end caps attached. That allows me to make Wife new styles of ends and she can simply unscrew one and attach another to suit her fancy.

Our boy made one already with pvc, and is going to make another one (matching floggers for his Dommes :D ), but he couldn't get the glue to hold for the ends & has to re-do them ... what did you use? we just have cheap candle holders that he drilled holes in, and since I am severely allergic to the pvc glue, I'm not too keen on him re-gluing any time soon.

I have started to make a cat but only have a pic of a couple of the falls but it gives you an idea what it will look like when i get the time to actually finish it :)

Nothing will hold PVC together that is too far from PVC glue (rubber cement, etc.). I used pre-threaded PVC nipples. They come in standard lengths and diameters. They can be a little tricky to find but they are out there. I'm fortunate in that I have a "source."...lol. But he may be able to drill through the PVC and hold it together with carriage screws.

Another idea is copper. If your boy can (or learn to, very easy) solder, copper can make for some very functional and beautiful toys. You can buy lengths of pipe for next to nothing and the end caps are everywhere. When polished they can really be something special.

I'm afraid I haven't made any of my own yet, but they were custom/hand made for me by a close friend.... does that count?

good idea. I found the pics that I want to share, but now I have to re-size them so that I can attach them ...

One that I just mailed to a friend - he likes very much.

Nothing like a bit of creativity to get the juices flowing. Any Dom/Domme I would think would love to have a "piece" done by thier loving sub. I sure know I do!!!

I like what the boy has made (or tried to, it's not quite finished yet), but most of our toys have been made by me. and the boy always feels privalaged when we use the toys that I have made on him.

Though it's not homemade, I've become quite fond of an object that I've aquired... when used in the proper manner it pose as nothing kinky at all, but when put into action with my imagination I've gotten some amazing results... I have a Conductor's Baton (yes I'm a music person). I like it to be LIGHTLY swatted on my rear. (hard swats induce EXTREME welts and eventually bleeding)

I made our canes a couple of years ago. Have some pics of them alone somewhere but couldn't locate it so here's one with some of our other favourite things. :D

Wonderful contributions sweetdommes and catalina!

A ribbon flogger...now there's imagination.

catalina may I ask how make your canes?

A perfect thread for a question that's been on my mind since the Fetish Flea.
The link posted above by WriterDom is great, but the way it shows to make a leather flogger is by tacking the falls to the base of the handle. At the flea we saw several made by pulling the leather falls through the handle.
I'm wondering what kind of materials and technique are used to do this. If anyone knows or has a link, that would be awesome. :)

Here is the suede leather flogger my slave had my friend make for me.

As you can see, it was created by having the falls loop around a D ring, and then have the handle woven around the end to secure them. Fairly simple solution actually, and should be adjustable to thicker width falls as well. (These are 1/4 in. wide, by about 1/8 - 3/16 in thick.)

Hope this helps!

That is really nice, and exactly what I'm talking about. Do you know what kind of material the handle is made out of? .. because of the two different shapes I'm guessing that there's something under the weaving. The weaving of course, is another technique I need to learn to do so I can make a nice flogger.

The handle material is actually just woven suede leather strips as well, including the hilt and pommel bulges. I'd really have to examine and reverse-engineer the thing to figure out how he ties them in together, but there are no other materials other than the leather strips and the D ring.

wow some very nice links, I would like to make one someday for my future mistress
