Don't worry, that happens alot. You can still view them, through the following method:
Right click on the x, then go down to "properties"
Copy the URL that shows up there, and paste it to your browser.
Hit "enter" to view the pic, and hit "back" to return to the thread.
Most often, the pic will be showing when you return.
Now this doesn't work all the time, mostly due to rights violations, but it does cut into the frustration factor!
