As for paying you're right, a bunch of companies/people are funded by tax dollars and in that sense you did pay for my stuff.

What a fucking scam.....granting the mental construct of legal authority may make their authority supreme, but the government is just a racket, a glorified mafia.

So how do you propose that the things that the federal government makes, maintains, and creates should be handled? Who should pay for the stuff you use?

Paving a highway costs several million. Corporate fraud would probably make it 3-5 times that expensive... so privatization would cost you more money...

Got another solution?

My moms family got rich and in acquired a respectable amount of power in DC through construction back in the 70's.

I've got a pretty good idea how expensive it is.

Sure I have.

I'm welcome for what? I paid to use it, voluntarily no less unlike most taxes.... didn't you?

I should.

If I want on the public roads, I pay for a tag that says I paid my fair share.

I pay at the pump as a milage tax for maintenance etc.

Just like everyone else who uses the roads.

What an arbitrary bullshit number.

Reality check....the cost depends on where, what materials and how big it is and how fast you want it done.

Your fair share? fuck that... sounds like communism. You should be paying for the whole fucking thing, like a free market rebel!

You don't depend on ANYONE. You are a rugged individual.

If you depend on anyone else, for anything, at any time, you must be a socialist.

look at all that ascription and bullshit.

I've never been against public services, infrastructure or national defense.

Just like I support public education and states having their own public option HC systems.

I just don't bullshit about what they or the policies surrounding them are nor do I suck off every half ass corporatist attempt to scam those systems by the Democrats.

In certain cases that exchange is good.

A lot of it currently how ever is so fully loaded with shit the exchange is horrible.

Yea I do.

Do you just not get the idea that not all are using and a few elites are abusing their authority to pool that money under threat of violence to exploit the many?

I'd rather do without than get taken for a ride.

But the true Left and all Democrats want to take less from you and more from the elites. But you make it harder by providing a sanctuary.

Who are you trying to lie to man?

The true left wants to just take it all, total government ownership over the means and control over distribution of goods and services is the only practical pathway to egalitarianism.

And since when are Democrats up for tax cuts? Last I checked they were with the leftist and think you can tax people into oblivion, giving them shit in return, fill their own pockets and that's the prosperity formula!

Then why do they keep doing it?

You fucking cheered one of the biggest tax hikes against the working/middle class in decades.....via an (R) scam no less.

All they had to do was put Obama's name on it and you were in.

Mother fuckers STILL defend that rip off scam like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Sure it does.

It's just tiny and still shrinking because damn near the entire government is out there doing everything they can to strangle and destroy it.

Thanks leftist! I'm glad you're out there working hard to make sure it's as difficult as possible if not just downright illegal for me to make a living for myself.

1.5 trillion added to the debt... no reputable economists find credible evidence that it will grow GDP.

Way to go with your tax give-aways to the wealthy and corporations.... while once again screwing the middle class.

So over 1 trillion ACTUALLY added to the deficit each and every year of the Obama Administration is not a problem but a PROJECTED one and a half trillion spread over 10 years is a problem?

During the JFK era, across-the-board tax cuts produced annual growth above 5 percent. And after tax cuts were fully implemented in 1983, real growth averaged 4.6 percent for the remainder of Reagan's presidency.
If Trump's tax plan "works" in a way that produces growth over the next 18-36 months, he has a real shot at a second term.

Bush tax cuts. Bush tax cuts extended.

Economic stimulus as needed from Bush era wars, spending etc.

Oh and wow, I forgot - at least according to you - that the executive office controls the purse strings.

The vast majority of debt accrued under Obama was a given before he ever signed a single bill. Further, the ones that added the most under him were not directly attributable to him.

But of course, anything to blame Obama. Regardless of actual history and reality.

Face it, the republicans love debt. Don't tax and spend.

The Republicans should have shown some balls and should have actually shut the government down completely until Obama agreed to a reasonable spending level. But they didn't. but the budget that they didn't pass because there was no budget during the Obama Administration Was Nothing But continuing resolutions based on nothing but the Nancy Pelosi budget don't try to pretend that every single dollar spent by the federal government was not allocated by democrats and only Democrats and the fecklessness of Republicans that did not stand up to them.

The good news is that that ridiculous level of spending made the current tax plan possible. I love this latest tax plan because it specifically punishes blue States. It makes the blue States pay for their exorbitant income and property taxes. It punishes specifically Democrats and which ones at that. It's great.

It will cause further flight of rich people from Blue States in two places like Texas and Tennessee that have no income tax. which will further implode the blue States because they won't be able to tax rich people that don't live there anymore.

Side Question:

Those of you posting in this thread seem very interested in politics, so maybe you can answer a question that is outside the scope of this thread.

News outlets are reporting today on Hillary Clinton's Approval Rating.

Why?

If one wanted to describe the Republican agenda, this most succinct version I've ever seen. It isn't about what is good for everyone. It isn't about a difference of philosophy. It isn't about a different style that could possibly actually work in the end. It is 100% about "fuck you because you're different than me and think different than me." Its small and its petty and WILL be the downfall of out country.

you really should have left food production out if you wanted to present the left as being correct. Two major government interventions make food costs higher. Farm subsidies were specifically created to keep food prices higher by limiting supply. More recent biofuel mixing requirements produced a bump in food prices. Most of the requirement was met with corn-based ethanol increasing demand for the output of farming. Diverting food supply to fuel tanks increased demand for corn and raised food prices.

There are real arguments for some government interventions. Market failures exist. Economic multipliers, can, in some cases, make the inefficiency fo taxes worth it. Government failures in markets also exist. In other cases economic multipliers are small. The left tends to ignore government failures and assume multipliers are always high. The right tends to ignore market failures and assume low multipliers.

Cherry picking the part of economics that supports their predispositions while ignoring the inconvenient parts isn't surprising. We're all human with confirmation bias. Both sides of the aisle are composed of quasi-rational actors trying to ignore their own areas of wrongness while demonizing the other side for its wrongness. There's plenty of economic science ignoring, irrationally supported wrongness to go around.

Like Trump figured out when trying to craft a better replacement for ACA by tinkering with health insurance markets, intervening in markets is complicated. Arguing about who's overly simplified rules of thumb are "right" doesn't help us negotiate reality and craft sound policy.

No, it is "fuck you back." In order for the western states to be admitted to the union in the first place they gave up and unconscionable amount of land which the federal government does a piss-poor job of managing. Democrats in the highly populated cities of the blue States consistently tell the West what to do. This is just desserts, and I'm quite glad about it. Those of us in the west would happily let those in the big cities do whatever they want it as long as they granted us the same privilege but they didn't.

This is going to hurt blue States just as much as the Obama "green energy economy" and monuments land grab hurt us.

For the last decade wages have remained flat unless you course you work for the ever-expanding bloated federal government. During the downturn in the economic recession the only place in the entire country that did not suffer a loss in real estate was those areas that service the federal government's around Maryland and Virginia. They deserve to pay their own bloated property taxes with their highly inflated wages that by no means reflect wages the private sector.

The federal government costs what it does because specifically Democrats and their patronage system is keeping it bloated on purpose because those government employees are Democrat voters.

It is not going to be the downfall of this country because the federal government is the anchor around the neck of the American economy. It needs to get out of the way and the only way that's going to happen is by starving the beast. It beats the alternative- Civil War.

This country has been on a 20 plus years slide because of George Bush senior capitulation to Democrats on taxes. There's this field called economics backed up by mathematics that says when you take money out of productive use that money isn't productive. Money that isn't productive doesn't provide jobs doesn't mine anything doesn't manufacture anything doesn't repair or rebuild anything. Money that the federal government spends is spent incredibly inefficiently; it's basically a giveaway to Unions and cronies who turn around and support Democrats. Davis Bacon needs to be repealed next. ( in the interest of a little balance the same thing goes for Republicans and defence contractors although the Democrats go along with that because that gets them those defense plants in their districts, but it's all waste and it all needs to go.)

This latest tax plan is temporary for the middle class and the reason for that is because they couldn't even get 9 Democrats to cross the aisle and agree that those middle class tax cuts are worth compromising for.

The people that are going to get crushed in the blue states are rich Democrats. You know the evl rich that the Democrats have been castigating for years to scare people that don't know what they're talking about into voting for them. It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of assholes. The poor and lower class, even in blue States either benefit from this or were not paying taxes anyway.

Do you know how many lawyers, lobbyists and politcians this will cost thousands of dollars? Truly wonderful.
