Dear Player,
Whatever you are protesting, and you WILL have to make up your mind on that issue, is being lost in the noise of the inappropriate manner your chosen to express your grievances. You are damaging yourself, your game, and your very livelihood with the method you've chosen. No one disputes your right to protest, but you'd best realize that no one has to watch you either.....and THAT is a message you'd best heed.
I have a suggestion for you. Through your unions form a non-profit organization. This organization would be made up of all professional sports players. NFL, NBA, MLB, and whatever other professional athletic organizations what to participate. All athletes that join participate by tithing some small part of your salaries. Use those monies for good works and further demand that your unions demand that at least two 30 sec. spots be dedicated to showing those good works during every televised broadcast. Don't bitch about things, do something.
If I may further suggest, use those monies to establish private schools in the inner cities. Chose those locations with the worst problems. Award scholarships for your schools and make scholarship the priority. Establish strict behavioral rules and stick with them. Obviously these schools are going to attract the most gifted of the local athletes, but athleticism alone shouldn't be the guiding criteria.
Don't look to the government for help. The government has run the schools in those areas for decades and the results are obvious. Who knows, you might even be able use that program to bring more diversity to the area in the long term.
Use your money and notoriety to bring about change where it's needed the most rather than making pointless demonstrations with the expectation that some one else is going to do something about it.............they aren't.
