magic vs. resonance

When I think about what made my good mail relationships tick and fly, the term resonance comes to mind. Not "magic" or "chemistry".

Reason is simple, I suppose: when a woman and I meet in an environment like Lit, both of us already match to some extent, because we have similar needs. When both a man and a woman are missing erotic intimacy, and when it looks like she and he love to provide that by mail to another person, that's a strong basis already for virtual happiness.

But if such happiness is to last, we must develop a strong liking for one another as well. In addition to merely serving each others' needs. And for that you and I have to really enjoy each others' (mail) company. And for this to happen, requires that we resonate with one another.

Resonance is not rocket science either. It means – plain and simple – that I try to understand, what you are writing to me, and that I respond because what you tell me interests me. And the other way around. This is natural; after all, when we have orgasms together, we aim for some kind of understanding and resonance as well, so why should this not also happen in the inter-personal realm?

Come to think of it, while part of resonance is in our genes most likely, a good-sized part is very wilful behavior! Who would have thought of that? OK, some potential key mismatches should not be present for you and me, but who knows, maybe we'll discover harmony here as well.

Would you like to look into this a bit deeper by sending me a PM?

I suppose this would be okay, as long as both parties have no intention of meeting or having a physical encounter. If one or both are married or in a committed relationship and don't want to end it, it can fill a void. I just think that in the end it would end in frustration, but what do I know? I suck at relationships!

I do agree with you on this point, though:

Liking one another would certainly enhance things between the two. The downside, though, would be if one, or both grew to having a feeling more than "liking" the other. That could lead to pain, disappointment, and heartbreak.

Just my two cents worth (and probably not even worth half that).

Hi there,

I tbink that's a post that deserves a 'well done. ' It's not too graphic, or in depth, or intense or all macho. It's about a man having a need in his life, and looking for a like minded soul to fill that gap.

Might it end in heartbreak? Of course it might, but then so might an offline relationship It's about taking that risk and testing the waters. You're so right, that for any friendship to last you have to like one another and have more than than that sexual connection.

This is a place to see if you can find someone that your post resonates with, then in turn together you can perhaps create magic. You set the ground rules down first so each of you knows what you're looking for, that way no surprises. May one of you develop stronger feelings than the other? Yes, but again that can happen in any relationship.

Good luck and I wish you well and happiness.

Yes, Resonance

I like your term resonance. If one finds what I might call a 'kindred soul' to correspond with (via Lit or other means) that is a treasure. Someone whose outlook and needs will echo your own.

I have had some really good connections here on Lit and, although they were relatively short lived, they had the quality you describe. Currently I have a lovely Skype connection with a terrific woman. We will never meet, and our times are limited because one of us has a real life partner. But we fill in empty spaces in each other's sexual and erotic lives. We are able to talk about things very frankly and encourage each other to explore things we have dreamed or heard about. And we really do like each other as you mentioned.

Thanks for your insight sir!

thanks for your comments, txgent. I am glad you found a kindred soul for filling out the voids in your life – not a bad definition either! I wish the two of you heartily that this connection will last longer than the other ones you mentioned.
