Is the black community finally figuring it out?

Promises, promises.

What in the hell were they thinking? That a president, any president, was going to somehow take from some to give to them by royal decree?

They watched as he sold out to big biz. time and time again. Did they think they were going to get a cut of that action? They did get more arugula in their school lunch programs though. Too bad they didn't get higher quality education. Too bad their neighborhoods are even more dangerous than when he took office.

I'm betting that that library is going to be built by some multi-name contractor that is primarily white owned. It's Chicago so the unions will decide which skilled tradesmen will work the job. And those various and sundry special interest folks......go fuck yourself.

Ishmael, you know nothing of the black community. We are not a monolith. We are humans with complex personalities, many of us are filled with great spirit and resilience that you can only dream of in your lifetime.

You have shown that you have a lack of empathy and are quite the passive-aggressive bigot. Seems like you've gone bored with bashing the 'Messican' immigrants and have re-focused your negative energy towards blazing another group of minorities.

You are not interested in dialogue, but rather to stick up your nose at the black community to make yourself feel better.


You have no interactions with a black person, probably haven't fucked one in your life, but no you think you are an expert on 'black matters'.

Unlike Bunny Slippers, you take yourself way too seriously.

I think that some unrealistic black people though that the first black president was going to somehow elevate their lives like never before. Those people are disappointed. Fortunately, Obama was smart enough to know that the first black president could appear to biased in favor of black people. He understood that it was more important to that he appear to be intelligent, measured and emotionally mature. Although many would refuse to see him that way, that is what he did.

Uhh, you do realize that every major union in the country has plenty of members that aren't white, right?

Or are you that racist, that you can't comprehend that.
 
Black community is the USA. Black history is American history. Forget the racist poison, all people want peace. It is the real oppressors, the financial overlords who are robbing you blind, that wish to foster divisive language, skin color biases, wise-up unite, feel the power.

I'm sure that things have changed over the years but I worked many conventions at McCormick and out in Rosemont and those union workers were overwhelmingly white.

It has nothing to do with who's IN the union, and a lot to do with who gets to work on the big, long lasting, jobs. SFB

I wasn't forced under threat of violence to hand over nearly 1/2 my income to the financial overlords every spring.

The financial overloads are not the ones robbing me.

Too bad in what respect oh ignorant of trends or the statistics behind them?

Violent crime started the downward trend during the first Bush admin.

Black enrollment in college is a far cry from the black graduation numbers. Further there is no differentiation by gender. It's a well known fact that more and more black women are enrolling, and graduating. But they aren't part of the major crime statistics.

The FACT remains that although blacks are 13% of the population yet they commit over 50% of ALL violent crimes save one, rape. So, while the overall trend is down, 50% is still 50%. Given those numbers is it any wonder that blacks (men primarily) are over represented in the prison system?

Oh, and my source is the FBI's UCR. It's online and available to anyone that wants to look the data up.

I was reading an article yesterday making the claim that the gay community in a lot of Europe is turning to the conservative parties because of the Liberal embrace of Islamic refugees (and their cultural views). This morning a read a little bit about how Angela is trying to rally her base because she fears gains by the conservatives.

Now I realize that the Liberals here from both sides of the Atlantic are going to scream fake news over both ideas, but then I watch FOX news and the Queen subjects me to CBS and guess what? One network is a helluvalot whiter than the other.

Which black community? What about half-breeds like myself? What if I didn’t grow up in the ghetto, never joined a gang and didn’t vote for Obama? Do I still count?

Can I at least count half-way?
 
Another thing is, in both cases, is the constant media and political focus only on a subset of that group to the exclusion of, as one poster whom I abhor pointed out above, these are diverse communities, but we really are trained to see them only through the caricature of the selected subset. In reality, we are beginning to develop a black middle class that no one ever hears from.
