The only way I would mix politics and sex on this site would be to say, "fuck politics". I would never talk politics in the bedroom with my partner, nor would I talk about the bullshit where I entertain myself from the real world. I automatically assume when people talk politics on this site that they absolutely have nothing of interest in their lives to talk about.👠👠👠Kant💋

In the past, the AH has been completely flooded with political threads, which breed nothing but bad blood. Now that we have a political forum for these discussions to take place in, that is where they will go.

Posts that meet the criteria outlined in post one will be moved, no matter how tongue-in-cheek they may be, because that's how it started during another highly divisive U.S. election cycle in the past.

Is the term 'politics' only valid during that 4th year when the rest of the world stands back in amazement at the barmy goings on (slander, lies, statistics [various] for example) ?

I've actually been avoiding this forum as I didn't want to get drawn in to the insanity of politics.
 
I, Lovecraft68 fully endorse this thread.

A while back when Laurel mentioned a Politics forum, the GB was exploding, all pissed off, drama central.

She made that forum and....every other thread in the GB is still political and that is a huge part of why that forum is a snake pit, people attack people with opposite political views in every thread about every subject.

Too bad no one was moving all those threads to where they now belong.

At that point, this place might only get ten posts a month, but they'd be about writing.

Um... the General Board is where people with too much time on their hands go to make meaningless bluster and occasional hate speech. Anyone spending any significant time posting there has proven they have nothing worthwhile to do and little idea how to express a point of view.

It's possible to learn something in AH, if you're patient, set ignore on some people and learn when to bail out of threads. GB has nothing to offer except a permanent reputation as a fool.

Don't have to. It already exists. The GB. I think it's great to either move initiated political threads to the political forum or erase partisan political jab posts in threads that are posted to the AH. I don't shy away either from political discussions--when put in either the political forum or the GB (probably more so in the GB simply because I have so many political forum posters on ignore that it's hard to follow thread discussions there). I just would prefer to have a forum to read that's divorced from that discussion. Having a political forum now and actually moving or trimming AH threads now has made the AH a far more pleasant place to visit this campaign year than in campaign years in the past.
