Who are you backing and why?

This is not a prediction-thread about who will win the election. If you want to post about that, go here.

I'm voting for Clinton because she is prepared for the job. She can stand the heat, the pressure, the abuse, and the demands. The other guy simply can't.

Clinton is far the more dangerous of the two but whether Trump could or would stand up to the real rulers is doubtful.

He's throwing it all for Hillary anyway.

Clinton is a heinous war monger who will gladly and enthusiastically bring the world to the brink of WW3. And there's enough full on nut jobs populating the senior ranks of the Pentagon to help her bring it on.

Let's hope the rest of the world has some leaders who can steer us away from the abyss.

These are very dangerous times. Empires are at their most brutal in their decline. But no empire before has had nuclear weapons.

A few weeks ago, when P*****gate broke and leading Pubs started distancing themselves from Trump, he expressed glee that he could now start running "unshackled."

Based on his performance since then, he appears to have confused a shackle with a hinge.

This expresses it well for me.

The deep state/the money powers.

No doubt you will scoff.

Actually, I've read some things about The Deep State -- but, even if it exists and even if it really is all that, it's not so much a shadowy cabal as as a set of institutions and interests perpetuating a "Washington Consensus" groupthink on certain points. And it still does make a difference who is POTUS -- presumably we had the same "Deep State" all through the last three administrations, and yet it is not at all difficult to contrast what those administrations did.

Feel free to enlighten the rest of us.

I see little to no difference from (at the latest) Reagan on.

It's all war and neoliberalism no matter which colour is the nominal power.

Whether Trump or Clinton is the next POTUS is not a matter of indifference.

Yea it really is.

M'ericuh is rather hosed either way.

It ain't Tweedledum v. Tweedledee, not this year.

You're right it's between an absolutely anti American neoLib globalist war hawk that thinks she's going to punk out Putin and a spoiled brat trailer trash clown who thinks he's going to punk out everyone but Russia and it's going to be great.

Everyone keeps trying to polish their bucket of shit trying to pretend their turd is truly superior because of the D/R in front of their name but it's just not true.

I don't think one is worse than the other I think it's terrible either way.

At this point it's more of the difference between a bucket of shit from a diarrhetic pig that's been feed rotten eggs and spoiled asparagus and a bucket of shit from a cow that's been fed corn meal and animal byproducts.

The discussion is, literally, which bucket smells worse.

No it's not. You're letting your "stupid" take over. There's a clear distinction between the two in terms of government functioning--and functioning in a way that either benefits you or puts you that shit you're posting about. Try some common sense.

How does neoliberalism and imperial war mongering benefit anyone but the .1%, Einstein?

Try it yourself and see how you like it.

Trump is clearly deranged combined with a complete lack of experience.

HRC, even if the D wins a Senate majority, will still have an obstructionist, ideologically driven, "no compromise" House with which to contend.
And no, the House GOP won't be any more amenable to her than her predecessor. Given the assumption she will be the next POTUS, it won't be because of her outstanding qualities and clear connection to the electorate, it'll be because she was the less stinky bucket of shit.
They'll have absolutely zero reason to whip out a barrel of Frebreze to cover her stink. On the other hand, they'll have every reason to make sure we all get a great big whiff of that bucket (because their own won't smell nearly as bad).

There won't be any substantive change in either foreign or domestic policy, gov't spending habits or taxes.
Nor is there going to be much substantial change in which party dominates the executive and legislative branches in most of the several states.

That means at best, HRC gets to replace one, maybe three judges on the SCOTUS.

But there will be elections in 2018. The GOP may have, finally, learned how to quit being the "party of stupid". I don't really expect it will, but whatever.

However, the D will most likely act like that just because more people held their noses and voted for the Hildabeast instead of the bucket of pig-shit, that the issues which drove masses of voters to Tromp, to Bearnie, even to consider Johnson or Stein, or worse, not to bother voting at all, don't need to be addressed urgently.

So, I don't know why you think an HRC presidency is suddenly going to make everyone in Congress play nice and poof up all the solutions to the myriad problems this country is facing, but don't think for a second that just because Trump sucks worse than HRC, it means HRC doesn't suck.

This election, like the ones previous, really is about choosing the lessor of two evils.

Yea and given my great dislike of both I honestly can't get a point up on one over the other.

Trump is a vile example of a human being.

He's Biff bro!!

Nobody likes Biff...he's just a fuckin' piece of shit.

But Clinton is the quintessential anti-American globalist neo-Lib....also a total fuckin' piece of shit. Both of them dying right now would be the best thing that ever happened to the USA.

So for the first time ever I think I'm actually unable to pick a worse smelling turd.

They both smell like shit.

The one factor that looms large in my mind is the SCOTUS.
Another conservative judge will truly fuck this country for generations, especially considering that Kennedy and Ginsberg are both in their 80's and could conceivably retire/die in the next four years.

In my lifetime, "throwing" usually refers to "the Black Sox" or somebody losing on purpose.

Donald is losing to so many people b/c of stupid things he says & does, which he says/does due to the same stupidity that before & after makes him not know how stupid they are/were.

Similar to the stupidity of anyone discussing this who believes that the Dem or Rep candidate is a good choice this election.
