New thread started as the last one went over the 5000 post mark.

This can be a free for all Friday, and if you want, let me know what you liked/disliked about the previous threads, and I'll see what kind of improvements management will let me make.....

*Pops head in, takes a look around....*

It's been more than 500 plus posts since the closure of Litequette 3 was imminent and this is the best you could do? Where's the refurbished room? The very special goodies from the sponsors? Not even a topic!
Coffee on tap will only go so far!

Oh..there's a poll...

For the topic inclined......when interviewing for a job there is always a line of questioning that is not germane to the position but rather focused on the "soft skills". What kind of tree would you be, what is your favorite color, how did you react when mommy took away your favorite binky because she said you were too old to take it to school? Has there ever been a new hire selection that came down to how those questions were answered or has someone been turned away because they failed that portion of the interview?

At my job they turned away a woman who could not adequately answer the question, "What is your spirit animal?"

Mind you, I do not work for a privately owned business, a holistic healer, PETA, a Reiki practitioner, Greenpeace, a yoga studio, nor a cultural center for aboriginal people.

And I'm currently updating my resume in anticipation of moving on. *shakes head

wow. I have never been asked such stupid questions during an interview. Instead, I have been asked tough questions about the job and the interviewer didn't know enough about the position to know if the answers were any good. (they were fantastic, btw)

I would like to be a tulip tree or a flowering dogwood. They make me happy.
My favorite color is plaid.
My mother didn't believe in using a binky. There was no way she was going to keep me from school. I was one of those kids who loved going.

I'll own it- I often post in a thread because of who else has posted there. Part of the fun is interacting with friends or someone I'd like to get to know. :)

8===D sadly, this is life size :(

But is it happy?

Because Chained is going to cite me or something, I will answer the question;)
It has been a very long time since I have had to interview for a job. I have been with my current company in one form or another for 14 years. I am not sure what my binky would have to do with my job performance or how it may impact my ability to do my job and God help them if someone ever asked me such a question in an interview...good grief...:D

My spirit animal is Darkwing Duck.

If I get asked stupid questions in an interview, I ask stupid questions back.

"What's your spirit animal?"

"Darkwing Duck. So, if you have to describe your CEO as a pre-1980 cartoon character, who would you pick and why? And oh, by the way, I get an extra 10K a year in compensation for every stupid interview question."

But is it happy?

not currently; he's lonely :(

I've been at my job 16 yrs; I've worked for this company a total of 18 yrs (2 yrs in high school)

that means I have given them over 1/3 of my total life span so far, and over half of my working career

and I'm still paid peanuts

C'mon guys, it's not so stupid, is it?

The company I work for uses those types of questions to assess one's thinking skills and you're simply not qualified if you can't think on your feet. I've been with my employer for a long time. When I was hired, there was only one wildcard question. Umpteen years later, there's at least five, dispersed throughout the interview. When I conduct interviews for my boss or when I am hiring team members for a project, you don't have to answer all the questions, there is no right or wrong answer, but you do have to put forth a bit of effort and a little creativity. I've never heard any of the questions posted so far, they are kind of odd, but they do serve a purpose.

Feel free to now boo me or throw things at me if you wish....

:D
