When Carter was president, I was pissed off the way he let the Iranians hold our citizens hostage. In retrospect, NO other American president ever has had zero wars during his tenure as president; that's a record any president in the future would love to share with Carter.
I've come to appreciate Jimmy Carter more and more as a humble man - farming peanuts didn't make him rich. He has dedicated much of his post-presidency with the humanitarian venture of working with Habitat for Humanity. I don't know if I would regard him as a great president - not the worst, as W owns that honor, hands down - but as a good and moral human being with good intentions, he ranks very high.
He faces cancer with great bravery and an openness to let the world know how he's doing. The cancer in his brain may be in remission, but cancer is still in his body and his days are more limited than most of us.
Hang in there, Jimmy.
