Alex stood in his bedroom, after changing for the third time his nervousness was still overpowering. He laughed at himself, after becoming a vampire he thought all of the familiar human emotions would be replaced with increased senses, being stronger and faster than anyone else, and a longing for the liquid life force of his fellow man. Instead he found that all of the old human emotions where still there, stronger than ever.
After deciding on a his old fallback of bluejeans and a black tee he headed for the hospital, only pausing to throw on his jacket and settle on his course of action. He had to save her life even if it meant damning her.
For over a year, Alex's sister Alice has been fighting cancer, she was admitted to the hospital a week ago and the doctor's had confirmed his worse fears. Alice was dying and wouldn't leave the hospital. Once the doctor had brought his world down with those words, Alex had made his decision. He would turn Alice, but unlike his experience he would be there for her, she wouldn't wander the street unsure of what she had became and have to learn how to live in this new life alone.
Walking out of the elevator and down the hall way seemed to take forever, Alex felt the eyes of everyone he passed on him. His nervousness told him they knew and where silently judging him, but his mind rationalized that he had always attracted attention, being over 6'2" and working out five times a week had gained him more than a few long hungry stares. However now those stares had a hint of fear behind them, prey always knows when a predator walks near them even if they are denying that they are prey. Room 301, Alex had come to hate that number. To him it represented his sisters death and the pain of seeing her laying in bed slowly fading from his world. He thought before opening the door, is this the right thing? Can I force this life onto her, damn her to the thirst for eternity? Then he pushed the door open.
