Narrated Opening...
"64 days since the Emergency broadcasts stopped. 64 days since every form of transportation came to a screeching halt. 64 days since everything as we know it came to a 'dead' end. The dead have brought chaos and now they rule with a firm fist. Anyone that hoped to survive by being rescued were turned away -- shot, mutilated, destroyed on sight -- out of fear that they were infected. Brother turned against brother; mothers cast their children out and friends betrayed those close to them. Fear. Fear ran rampant through the many cities and towns on this lonesome blue planet. Cries could be heard even after many places grew silent. But they didn't last long. Sure there are survivors, but they kill to keep from being killed. Everyone has grown paranoid in the midst of Hell. But heck, wouldn't you if something like this were to happen? That's where I come in. The person literally feeling like the last woman on Earth. No men seen for days. Were there any left? I didn't know, but I set out from San Francisco to find out."

I looked into the mirror one last time. It wasn't truly my mirror. I was hiding out in a small loft, barricaded inside to fend off the invading zombies. Yep, you got it. Zombies are walking the Earth. And right now, I'm hiding from them. "Fuck, wish I had some eyeliner. My eyes are too bright.." I looked away from the mirror and stuffed more granola bars into the backpack I had. I was basically trespassing in this apartment. I'm not even from San Francisco. I was foolish enough to believe in the hype of the ships leaving this place, taking sanctuary on the open seas. But it ended up being false and the other survivors that I was running with turned after being overcome by the horde that arrived soon after the small sailboats that had sent out the message over the radio waves left.

I picked up the baseball bat that I had kept with me for a majority of this Hell and headed out. I needed to find refuge somewhere and this was just not cutting it. Somehow there had to be someone willing to pair up with me. Hell, I couldn't be the only human left now, could I? I went out the back of the building, hoping to avoid a majority of them. It was quiet. Almost too quiet. I turned a corner and came face to face with one of the sick motherfuckers. "Oh fucking hell.." I said as I backed up. "Time to be obliterated, mofo!" I swung the bat and knocked its head clean off. I had gotten a little better at that. But one thing went wrong with this decapitation. I fucking hit a street pole.

"Oh crap," I said as I ran past the bleeding body. They were on my ass and I had to hide once again. I couldn't find a place that wasn't boarded up. I was royally screwed at this point. That's when I bumped into someone. The zombies chasing my ass, I thought I had bumped into an infected. But it was a man. He took hold of my hand and dragged me along, taking me into a deserted store. The zombies ran past. It was as if they couldn't even tell that I wasn't in front of them. I was panting hard then I looked up to him. "Thanks for saving my ass back there.. I'm Missy.." I said extending my hand out to him.

~{The Guy}~

Maxwell max to his friends if he had any grew up most of his life in a small town called Roseville California he had no life he mostly stayed home and watched horror movies that was his life and he loved it until that day when everything went to shit in a hand basket lucky for him he had a stash of dehydrated meals for the occasion so he got what he could and packed up and headed to San Francisco thinking if he could make it to there he could find a ship he could make it to Catalina Island but that plan was shot to hell when he got to San Francisco all the boats were destroyed so he stayed waited and always looking to see if he could get someone to join him he heard a scream coming from one of the street and he saw a girl being chased by them she ran into him and he couldn't even say one thing before he grabbed her hand and brought her into one of the marts he had found a few hours before he put his finger up to his mouth telling her to hush when she introduced herself the name's Maxwell but you can call me Max.

He seemed normal enough. Hell, he had thought it enough to save me from the running dead. "Max, huh? Fancy.." I said with a smile. He was certainly cute. Well, hot is a better term for it. I looked back out the window, pressing myself up against the glass. "Damn, can't see a thing.. Yipes!" I let out a squeal taking a step back against him seeing one of the zombies pushing its decaying face against the storefront. I quieted myself seeing that it couldn't really tell that we were there.

It soon left, stumbling up the street. I took a look back out the window and then turned to see Max. "So...where ya from? I'm from up near Eureka. Long way from here.." I pulled out a towel out of my backpack to clean the bloodstains off of the bat.

He watched her move around he saw her jump at one of the decay he called them he laughed they can't see but there hearing is really good so you might want to keep your voice down he said Eureka heard that area was hit pretty badly by them i'm from Roseville he watched her clean her bat bad thing to wield in tight spaces here he said taking a machete out of his bag you might want to try this easy to grip and alot better than a bat you look like you haven't had anything good in days.

I watched as the zombie he called 'decay' stumbled off. "Huh, good I found you then.." I listened to him as I then took the machete from him. I swung it around a bit. It was lighter and sort of serrated on one side. When he mentioned food, that's when I was reminded of the gnawing hunger inside of me. "Oh god, I really haven't.. Been snacking on these granola bars since the fake call from the sailboats out in the Bay.." I didn't want to seem desperate, but I was actually thankful that I found him.

He smiled come sit don't worry about the door's i reinforced them a couple of hours ago so we are fine for the time being he pulled out four dehydrated meals you look like a chicken fried steak kind of girl he said as he hand her two MRE chicken fried steak sorry its not much but its better than nothing how long have you been on the streets Missy if you don't mind me asking.

I took the MREs happily...and hungrily. I opened it up and dove right in. "Oh gosh, thank you! It is better than nothing.." I continued to eat and realized what it tasted like. With my mouth partially full, "Gosh, just like Cricket's in SAC.. Or maybe I'm just that hungry.." I finished the meal and sat back. He asked me about how long I had been on the street. "Since the beginning of this Hell...I was living alone in Eureka when everything went to shit. The emergency alert came over the TV and told everyone to evacuate to the Bay. I managed to work my way down the coast to San Fran, but everything was already gone..Burned mostly.." I looked to him, drinking some water before I spoke up again.. "How about you, Max?"

He ate his MRE it was not bad but not good he only had a couple left well i was in my apt when everything went to shit heard pounding on my door opened it to find my next door neighbor turned and tried to take a bite out of me damn near almost got me until i put this thing in his skull he pointed to his crowbar laying near his backpack i was on my way to head to Catalina island thought i could wait out the storm but when i got here i found all the boats burned so there's no chance of getting there now been living here and there have a few places around the city just been looking for any signs of life until i heard you scream and bumped into you he looked around the store i have yet to check the back area of this store for food supplies and other items if you can help me with that.

My eyes widened as I heard his story.. "Well damn..And I thought I had it bad when old Mrs. Dawson next door to me in the apartment building in Eureka started gnawing on me. Thank goodness she didn't have her dentures in or I'd be a goner too.." I stood up when he mentioned the back of the store. "Well, let's get to it.." I smiled walking with him to the back of the store. "There's not much left here in San Fran...that's why I was trying to head out for So.Cal... Didn't get far before I fucked up again.." I opened the door to the back of the store, the storage was quite warm on the inside. Seemed like we wouldn't really find much. That's when I heard a groaning noise from under a stack of boxes.

He followed behind her with her leading the way he had to admit she did have a cute ass when she opened the storage room it was indeed warm a perfect place to be in San Fran with it being cold most of the time you know we might have to stay in here tonight its going to be below freezing and i don't think it would be a good idea for either one of us to leave this store then he heard the groaning as well he put his finger up to his mouth telling Missy to hush he directed her to get that side while he was on the other side he whispered can you see what it is he said in a hush tone.

Night was soon approaching and we would have to find shelter for the time being. I looked over at the box and pulled it back a bit. I jumped back. "Oh holy crap! It's just a freaking head!" I was told by him to keep quiet but this fucker just scared the hell out of me. I pulled up the machete and looked away before I stabbed the head, killing the decapitated zombie brain.. "I think I'll always be surprised when stuff like this happens.." I said looking to Max.

He laughed out loud when she screamed i think your supposed to do that when there attached to a body yea there is going to be bounds of surprises for days to come dead taking over the world he kicked the head in the corner of the room i think we can bunker here for the night we better check all these boxes for food and try to use those board's to reinforce the door to the mart i have a blanket in my pack we can use to bundle up.

I nodded in agreement, my breathing still erratic from being scared by the body-less zombie head. I picked up a few of the boards and took them to the front of the store, pushing them up against the door while he put them into place. I then walked back to the back room and sat on the floor. "A blanket huh? Guess we could snuggle to keep warm.." My face grew red from blushing thinking about snuggling with this stranger that had saved my life. I patted the floor next to me for him to sit down.

He placed the boards she gave him against the door that should hold for the time being but i think tomorrow we should find some more weapons maybe try to find a pawn shop if your up for it he said before sitting down where she patted so whats your story he asked what did you do and like to do before the world went to hell.

"Oh god, where do I begin?" I said with a smile. "I mostly just hung out at North Coast Roleplaying.. They have comics and stuff there.. Other than that..." I paused for a moment. My thoughts went to my family that became the walking dead. "..yeah, nothing much more than that. Lazy at home, the usual..What about you?" I was trying to change the subject. Hopefully he wouldn't catch on that I was trying to.

Well lets she i grew up with a small family two sister one brother and my mom have no idea if there living or there dead i left home about age eighteen and lived a small one bedroom apartment no job just watched anime horror movies and wrote short stories till everything went to hell you ok Missy you seem tense i asked with a small smile.

I was drifting in and out of listening to him. My mind shifting to the images of my family turning right in front of my eyes. We had all tried leaving Eureka as soon as the emergency alert went out, but we barely made it out our front door in the large apartment that we all lived in. When he asked if I was tense, I turned my gaze to him. "Oh, um..no I'm fine.. Just thinking about some stuff..You wouldn't be interested," I said looking down, feeling downhearted about it all.

Well that's where your wrong i said with a smile we are together for the time being so consider my ear your complaint department he said with a chuckle trying to get her to get out of whatever funk she was in i think i have a idea where we can go after we go to the pawn shop have you ever been to Monterey Bay its a s not big city and i know a few places where we can bunker down its alot better than San Fran because there are more zombies in this city than anywhere because of that damn emergency broadcast everyone heard before it went off the air.

I smiled as he made mention of that. "It's nothing much really. Just...my family died before my eyes. Even my little brother. He was barely 12." Tears were coming to my eyes, but now was not the time to start crying. Hell's minions were walking outside and I had to keep my composure for the time being. "Monterrey Bay, huh? I haven't been there since I was around 4. Supposedly it wasn't just around here that went to shit. The whole world was gone to Hell before they announced it to the rest of us." I laid my head over on his shoulder as I snuggled in closer. I felt safe for the first time in weeks.

Fuck was all i could say its hard to see that happen to people getting bitten and chewed on before being turned i heard Washington DC was hit pretty bad people just eating other people is something out of the movies i couldn't believe it the first time i saw a zombie but at least i was prepared for anything he chuckled four huh well then we are going to need a map when we get there because i was the same age when i last visited she put her head on my shoulder poor girl she must have been running for weeks lets get some sleep we need all the rest we can get if were going to running tomorrow i slowly drifted off to sleep with a pretty girl on my shoulder and a crowbar on my side i laughed to myself huh the american dream.

I slowly drifted to sleep as I leaned against him. I must have been tired because next thing I know, I was waking up laying on his lap and the sun coming through the front of the store. I turned my head and looked up to him. "Oh, um...sorry about this.." I sat up in a hurry not wanting to make him uncomfortable. I looked to him, my face showing embarrassment. "So, um.." I said stuttering. "Should we go?" I felt different while with him, something I hadn't felt since the flame I had in high school. Was I falling for this guy? I shook my head at the thought as I stood up to stretch.

I awoke long before she did and noticed she was laying her head on my lap i smiled and watched the Decay walk close to the store i chuckled stupid zombies the next thing i knew you jumped up like something got you its alright you were tired and besides it looked like you needed the sleep yea we can go i brought my pack over to me and started place three bags of chips and four cans of fruit i guess this store is empty now i chuckled well i got about three chips four cans of fruit and about three MRE so we better find some more food before heading out of the city if we can make it out of the city without being fucked.

I rubbed the back of my head in a confused way as I looked to him. "All I know is there is a market on Arguello Boulevard but that's about all I know.. It's not too far from here." I walked over to the window and saw numerous of the 'Decay' walking by. "Seems to be more of them every day.." After the last one walked by, I took down the boards and opened the door gently. It creaked slightly as I opened it and walked outside. I looked around and saw that it was clear for the most part. "Come on," I said motioning for him to follow. Hell, I should be letting him lead. He seems to know a bit around here, a bit more than me. "So, the market is this way. Shouldn't be more than a few blocks." I had the machete in hand as we made our way down the road.

He saw her taking lead he thought a girl who can handle her own was rare nowadays he saw a few Decay down the end of the street so he said in hushed whisper i think instead of the pawn shop we can try the consulate of India for more weapons its on the same street that way we can try to find a big vehicle while we look for weapons there i'm sure they have a nice 4x4 truck in the underground parking lot they went past the Decay and made sure not to make any noise when they turned the corner one Decay was in the way on the sidewalk so i took my crowbar and swung high and came down fast on his head fuck i said these bastards are alot tougher then you we can give them credit for.

"The consulate huh? That would be worth a shot." The zombies were nearby and when he took a swing, I did the same on the one next to him so he wouldn't get fucked over. I used the machete and swiped at its neck, lobbing its head clean off. When he was done with taking down the one with a crowbar, I smirked, "Perhaps we need to find you something sharp instead of blunt.." I continued walking with him until we came up on the consulate. "God, it's huge.." The gate was broken down and windows busted out. "We might be too late though," I said stepping over the gate to make our way inside.
