Guido Bacco cussed angrily as the highway patrolman's squad car flashed its lights. The last thing that he felt like was a speeding ticket. He knew those jerks did it for quotas, too, not really caring about public safety. Illinois State Police were all the same.

The issue wasn't money. Guido did well as a commodities broker in Chicago. He was single and avoided going on dates since he broke up with his last girlfriend over her jealousy. He just played the field and enjoyed himself, doing what he liked. Lately, that even included exploring his bisexuality. He just hoped that it didn't get back to his parents that he swung both ways.

No, the problem was the inconvenience and the unfairness of being singled out. It happened for bikers far too much (his ex also hated that he preferred a Shadow to an actual car like hers). He had done the research, so he knew that the cops picked on bikers far more than other motorists.

Guido wore his helmet and used all of the other safety precautions, but a little over the speed limit, even when there was no traffic, and he was nailed for speeding. He also hated losing points on his drivers' license. He wasn't in danger of suspension, but he still felt persecuted and this just angered him.

"License and registration, please. Do you know why you were pulled over?" the voice asked stupidly.

Guido bit his tongue so as not to say anything dumb. He also glared angrily at the cop before thinking of his answer. At this point, he was glad that he was still sober.

"Certainly, I do," he said crisply, refusing to elaborate.
