Good Views

Stop what you're doing right now and click the link below. Take 4 minutes out of your time to watch this incredibly beautiful video of Tenerife timelapse shots. Trust me - it'll improve your day.
- watch this now El Cielo de Canarias (from photographer Daniel Lopez)

Beautiful. I always forget where Tenerife is and have to Google it.

That guy has a website (all in Spanish) with some pretty stunning images.

His pics remind me of the really wonderful doc "Nostalgia for the Light". Atacama and Tenerife are totally on my list of places to visit before I die.

Have you been there? Or elsewhere in the vicinity?

Heh. No. I wish. But I think if I'd been there, I'd remember where it is. I fantasize about being so well traveled that I forget where places I've been are. Sadly, I haven't peregrinated quite that much yet.

ETA: Closest I've been is the French Riviera, not very close at all.

I think I am turning a new leaf in so many ways. It feels great.

Had the most perfect day today. Not one thought that made me anxious. I didn't have to tend to my Step-Uncle for once, and I'm not trying to sound rude in saying that. I got me time, and that's been so rare. Especially me time where I wasn't beating myself up in my own head.

Again, yesterday hearing someone tell me that I had my Dad's loud and infectious laugh, coupled with today shows why I get up everyday.

Sure, I struggle financially, emotionally, health wise, all of that. Some days seem too much to bare. Yet today was so beautiful and perfect, and it's really brought me back to thinking that I can get through all of this. That no, things will still take time, but if I have patience and don't beat myself up, I'll get there at some point. It's not about winning the race, it's about getting to the finish line in one piece.

And although it's been tough living back home without my Parents and my Grandmother especially still not being alive, I remember how much I loved them, and that the best thing I can do to honor what they gave me is to enjoy and cherish the smallest things in life. To not give into the voices that say there is an easy way out.

We're never promised anything in life, and well if we were, life would be pretty goddamned boring.

I just like this feeling right now, and I'm holding onto it and embracing it. Not questioning it.

If the box is truly marked "Ass Biscuit", I don't think I can go on without those sitting on my pantry shelf for when a visitor is looking for a snack.

That's gonna be new thing to confuse non-native English speakers: "You bet your ass biscuit!"

I'll say like it's a commonly used phrase.

Every holiday gathering when I was a kid, a couple of my uncles would get into a discussion about something, which would lead (as the alcohol consumption increased) into an argument over some stupid point then suddenly morph into some ancient childhood brotherly feud - then swell as aunts and spouses and other adults took sides, engulfing the room in a cacophony of drunk incoherency loud enough to make TV-watching impossible. Bored, tired, we'd sit in the midst of all that beer breathe and yelling and ridiculousness, staring at the mute television screen, thinking, "Jesus, are they ever going to bring out the ice cream and cake?"

That's what reading that thread feels like to me.
