Jesus.

Yes, we GET IT, you're an involved dad. Stop lauding that as if you deserve a medal. Yay for you but a lot of us do it day in and day out without shouting to the world that we do it. You are a parent, there are no ribbons for participation, there is no homecoming king of raising the young. You do it to the best of your ability and you hope like hell that you can get a few hours of sleep at night.

Thank you, girlsmiley
For posting that.
Growing up without sexual freedom and enduring patriarchy, is a harsh contrast to what freedoms women have in America.
(PS- looked at videos of people who keep a yabby for a pet. Funny small creatures.)

As much as I'll always hold the comedic styling of Mitch Hedberg near and dear to me, going through some old Steven Wright stuff...well, he'll always be number one in that style.

Wright to Hedberg to Dmitri Martin.

Tinker to Taylor to Chance.

The Supremes were correct in accepting to hear arguments re: DOMA...

...so they can rule it unconstitutional, for the cultural issues of marriage/sexual orientation are completely outside the purview of constitutionally enumerated federal powers.

But they were incorrect in accepting to hear arguments challenging Prop 8...

...because all powers not delegated to the federal government by the Constitution are constitutionally deemed to be reserved to the States, or to the people.

I don't care if another wants to marry and mate with a man, a woman, a dog, or a Mitsubishi...

...if the statists must insist it's any of their legal business (one way or the other), then the only arena for it to be constitutionally decided in is within the States, respectively.

Edit:

Of course the Supremes were correct in accepting arguments challenging the 9th Circuit Courts' overturning of Prop 8...

...how else could the Supremes overrule the 9th?

My bad.

To surmise:

The Supremes throw out DOMA because the federal government has no Constitutional power in regards to the cultural issues of marriage/sexual orientation...

...and they overrule the 9th Circuits' ruling that Prop 8 is unconstitutional, because culture issues such as marriage/sexual orientation are the province of the States and the People, per the 10th Amendment.

The Court's current term expires the end of June, I believe...

...I'll bet both verdicts on the two issues above will be delivered in less than half that time (which would be abnormally quick).

Evers, not Taylor. Tinker to Evers to Chance. 1902 to 1912 Chicago Cubs.

Maybe your conflating it with Le Carre's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy?
