So instead of actually salting the roads they just push school starting times back 2 hours. What a bunch of idiots.

i think kmplayer might be getting the fuck off of my computer. untranslated chinese popups i can't close without taking a wild guess on which button means "fuck off" appearing during install and other random extra shit being installed without asking me are two very not cool things.

The latest VLC seems rock solid stable.

yeah, it's not doing too bad. for some reason it seems to take forever to open on my computer, but once it's open it works great. i'm still very sad. kmplayer used to be really good. then they started doing this pandoratv crap (whatever that is) and km+ and it's been downhill ever since.

also, i looked up how to turn off km+ (because it used to be easy and now it isn't) and i found a thread on their board where people were wondering what exactly kmplayer was doing with the data it collected and the developers simply refused to respond because "everyone was against them." that is way too fucking sketchy.

anyway, time to delete some shit.

Bizarre. I don't think I've ever come across a file format that VLC won't play.

it's probably more my shitty computers fault than anything else. i really need to get a semi-decent graphics card at some point. even a cheap one would likely be an improvement.

The one I took out of this rig in my latest upgrade was an 8800GS. Old but still not a bad card. I found them for about £18 when I was looking for a new one. Probably even cheaper over there.

dearest ex,

normally we get on well. normally we have roughly the same ideas about parenting the kids. but...
he's been doing the sport for 4 months and is so damn good that he's double graded with distinction in both grades. and now he's earned an invite to represent his club at the junior/cadet NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!! and he can't go because you've already booked the flight to see your moronic friend get married yet again, which you seem to see as set in stone.

you're a twat!

love from me.

The sheer amount of noise generated by the U.S. is mind-boggling.

The mutual fund companies aren't in the business of managing money; they're in the business of getting their hands on your money. The stock brokers are (and have always been) pure, 100%, unadulterated snake-oil salesmen. The auto companies want to make you believe that your identity is somehow mixed up with what you drive. The food companies want to make you think their corn flakes are somehow better than the other guy's corn flakes. The razor blade company wants to make you believe dames will like you better if you use the $9.00 quintuple blade SUPER-DUPER razor (and, conversely, that their $8.00 MIRACLE pink-colored razor is better). The beer company wants you to believe you're a babe-magnet if you drink their beer. The soap and deodorant companies want you to believe that you stink if you don't use their product. The tort lawyers want you to believe you're entitled to to be rich because you're a victim. The politicians want you to believe they have the answer and that the other guy is a malefactor.

Basically, it's become a nation of liars, frauds, swindlers and snake-oil salesmen.

I'm going to have to see that, I like Kat Bigelow's stuff as a rule.
