I just knocked a glass off the kitchen counter.
Caught it before it hit the floor.
Somehow managed not to spill a single drop.
Highlight of my day.

I am thankful that I am watching it by myself. I can let my upper lip wobble, as much as I like.

My users have meetings near the hq this week. Which means I'm gonna be busy as fuck.

I always wonder if any of them are members here.

I mean come on, they travel all year long. Some of thems gotta be lonely and stuff.

I was telling my dad last night that I was ready to go back, I felt rested, I felt sane, ready to tackle the world...then my alarm went off. Bleurgh.

***************************

For the first time in a long time I looked in the mirror this morning and felt pretty. So there is that.

New Shade of Green: Stark Shift for Onetime Foe of Genetic Engineering in Crops

http://dotearth.blogs.nytimes.com/20...ps/#more-47826
by Andrew Revkin

Quote:
In case you missed the coverage and commentary yesterday, you can now watch Mark Lynas, the British writer and environmentalist who once helped drive Europe’s movement against genetically engineered crops, apologize for those actions and embrace this technology as a vital tool for ending hunger and conserving the environment. He spoke yesterday at the Oxford Farming Conference at Oxford University.

An excerpt from Lynas’s prepared remarks is below. Here’s his remarkable preamble:

For the record, here and upfront, I apologize for having spent several years ripping up GM crops. I am also sorry that I helped to start the anti-GM movement back in the mid 1990s, and that I thereby assisted in demonizing an important technological option which can be used to benefit the environment.

As an environmentalist, and someone who believes that everyone in this world has a right to a healthy and nutritious diet of their choosing, I could not have chosen a more counter-productive path. I now regret it completely.

Yeah, I'm back at work, deal with it:

Listen, fucker, I warned you for 6 weeks to change your insurance before the holiday break, you can't come to me on the 7th and ask if you can change it. You asshole.

Also, every person in my house is sick but me.

And, this coffee is amazing.

The Savage Estate was gerrymandered into a Republican district, so as to turn the district Democrat - which happened. So for the past two months I've been bugging the hell out of my new Representative (via email and tweets). Been laying down the cold hard facts of the way things ought to be.

This morning he called and wants to have coffee.

I don't like to leave the house, so I think I'll have him over to the manse.

Unless he's going to pick up the tab at someplace nice.
