Santa asked me what I wanted for Christmas since I've been such a good girl this year.

I told him I wanted either a Dutch bike (something like this):

Or a luscious leather messenger bag like this:

Decisions, decisions...

Ain't no thang.

For the record, Project Free TV is a great website. They also have movies. I watched the entire fifth season of Mad Men on there.

The color of the sky as far as I can see is coal gray
I lift my head from the pillow and then fall again
I get a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather
A quiver in my lip as if I might cry

And by the force of will my lungs are filled and so I breathe
Lately it seems this big bed is where I never leave
I get a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather
A quiver in my voice as I cry

"What a cold and rainy day
Where on earth is the sun hid away?"

I hear the sound of a noon bell chime, well I'm far behind
you put in 'bout half a day while here I lie
With a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather
A quiver in my voice as if I may cry

What a cold and rainy day
Where on earth is the sun hid away?

Do I need someone here to scold me?
Or do I need someone who'll grab and pull me out of?
Four poster, dull torpor pulling downward

For it's such a long time since my better days
I say my prayers nightly, this will pass away

The color of the sky is gray as I can see through the blinds
Lift my head from the pillow and then fall again
I get a shiver in my bones just thinking about the weather
A quiver in my voice as if I may cry

A cold and rainy day
Where on earth is the sun hid away?

A cold and rainy day
I shiver, quiver, and try to wake

Bikes haven't evolved much (in Holland) since the 1950s, at least not in style. I will say they are the most comfortable bikes to ride.

The latest and greatest on the Dutch scene is the "bakfiets". I think I'll pass, though:

And, as summer isn't for quite a few more months yet, I think I might get more use out of the leather.

WTF? That's ridiculous looking. It doesn't seem all that safe either.

What I want is a cream-colored Vespa with a brown leather seat. I love the 1960s/early 1970s Italian mod style, and it doesn't get better than this:

Safe, shmafe. The great thing about Nederland is that they have designated bike paths. Think roadway, then bike path outside that, then sidewalk outside that. Bike paths have their own stop lights and whatnot, too. Because of the paths, rules, and stoplights (I think) no one wears a bike helmet. Ever. Bikes are a main mode of transportation. I rode the hell out of my bike when I lived there. Gasoline is fucking expensive, but not only that, bikes and public transport get you 'bout everywhere you want to go. <shrug>

Back in the States, especially where I live, I don't ride my bike outside my neighborhood without a helmet. Too many fatalities from jackasses who don't pay attention.

Nice Vespa. I approve. But wear a bad-ass biker helmet and leathers. That'd be fucking awesome!
