Sorry, late again, distracted by Halloween.

Time to cast off ghouls and goblins and turn to snowflakes, reindeer, and other trappings of the winter holiday season. If it's not cold outside yet, it'll be there soon (in many parts of the Lit world, at least).

So settle yourself down with some hot chocolate and get to writing. :)

Winter Holidays
themes: winter holiday traditions (dreidels, gift giving, etc.), cold weather (snow), holiday mythology (Santa, elves), etc.
starts: November 10
closes: December 7
winners announced: December 14

I'm looking forward to this. It can't come soon enough for me. Both of my stories are already done. I just need to edit them.

I've got a mother/son story for the first day. The mom is a caretaker of winter home, and the son comes along (she's a full time professor who's also writing a book)

I've also got a lesbian story between a professor and student. I really love it. I can't wait for it to come out.

best of luck everyone

I have stories ready for this, although I was surprised to see that it starts so soon.

Damn...no rest for the weary. Been throwing around an idea for the last week or so, guess it's time to start writing.

I'm thinking I should make myself do this contest, and NaNo, to start writing again. It's been so long I think I'm procrastinating on restarting.

I'll have to cast around for an idea, though. Had one a couple of years ago but I'm not sure if the basic idea is enough for a story.

Plot bunny hopping around, working on it. Now it remains to see whether I can complete it or not.

Should be 6 Lit pages, at best.

The tenth does seem early.

I really need to get something in for survivor, and I do have a bunny, a lesbian romance, but next month is shaping up to have too much real/life drama to hope for any kind of decent focus.

Yes a.i.r. is continuing to raise the bar!

yes a.i.r. is doing it again! not one holiday contest - instead TWO!!!! First a Thanksgiving Contest which will be immediately followed by a Xmas/New Years Contest.

Full details and contest rules to follow soon!

Good Luck!!!

Please ignore the Alt above running on about fake contests by a fake association of one.

The ignore feature here at Lit is your best friend in his (yes, it is a guy) case.

And Please don't Quote his idiocy as most people already have him on ignore.

Thank you.

Just bumping the thread a little, about 1k words into a story. Phew this one kinda feels like it snuck up early.

I feel like that so I am generously offering to take in any little orphaned bunnies... cause i have none!

LOL That really made the rounds. I read it on Slate.com the day it published and woof, did it take off!

It's funny, because it reminded me a little of my parents, although they're not like the woman who wrote the letter. My parents lived in this development and initially gave out candy. But over the years, people would come from other areas and it just got crazy -- it was hard to drive in the place, hard to park, there were hundreds ofkids, and my parents simply couldn't keep enough candy around, so finally they gave up. They would just go out somewhere on Halloween until t-o-t was over.

They didn't care where the kids came from, they just couldn't keep up. This woman just sounds like she wants every one to keep their own socioeconomic turf.

Have an idea, but it's Thanksgiving based, so ( for me ) I don't have much time to get it fleshed out, written, and edited. Unless it's ready before the holiday, into the "next year" or "half-baked" folder it goes, regardless of whether it could make the contest deadline.

Trying to finish my Halloween story in time for it to come out before the actual holiday at this point. And possibly tweaking the title. I'm not completely happy with the title I have on it now.

I have three started. One is BDSM. One is more Erotic Horror than anything and the third won't go where I keep pointing it. It's like herding cats.

I've got a New Year's thing cooking. I hope it flows better than the two Halloween stories that got stuck on stupid.

I think I'll stick one in for this one. Had a conversation yesterday evening which is acting as my inspiration. A bit short on female characters though.

I have a grain of an idea for Holiday, but I don't think I'll have time with NaNo, the deadline is so early!

But who am I kidding, I almost never get a story done in time for a contest! But ... if it's a really short story ...

Got one ready. Just finished it tonight. Of course, my editor will differ with the word 'ready.' I was really late to the Halloween contest so I figured I would get a jump start on this one.

Hopefully, the plot won't be too ridicules. My stories always seem to evolve and I never know the ending until I get there. This one drifted after the first page. I blame my grass. It keeps growing and while I cut it, I dream up crazier crap that somehow finds its way onto the pages. I should buy a few more acres and write a book.

Damn. I haven't been thinking about it, I've been putting things off and I guess this is just another.

I suppose I could do a "snowed in" for the holidays with an improbable couple. Or a longer linger under the mistletoe than is tasteful, leading to .... Hmmm. I don't have a single story in my ideas or started folders that has a single thing to do with the holidays.

Damn. I think I'll swipe the last of my wife's "nutty bars" and put the little grey cells to work.

Despite the PMS haze, I made some progress on where this one is going. Fingers crossed that I'll make it to the end this time. (Honestly, I have no interest in thinking about Christmas right now. Maybe I should go to the mall for inspiration. or for some shoes.)

Chance of snow this weekend...maybe that'll be a little inspiration on how to finish up this story. At this point it could go so many different ways.
