It was the same every week: when my alarm woke me, I never, never wanted to get up and actually go to the swimming pool to do my laps. But when I finished the 50 laps, it always felt sooo great. After quitting smoking, I knew it was good for me to keep on doing this, even though I never had a problem with gaining too much weight.
I had been doing this for a year now and I was quite proud of myself. I had seen other people try for a few weeks to then never see them again. Some lasted for a few months, max. Sure, a hand full of old people were regulars, but they just chatted amongst each other during their few laps. (Being 40 years old, I know that using the lable 'old people' is tricky, but still).
There was this other swimmer though, who I saw almost every time I went on my wednesday morning swim. The swimmer was a she. I had never really talked to her, as she usually started her laps about 15 minutes later than me. We had said an occasional 'hello' though, while clinging to the side during a short break from our laps in the 'fast lane' of the pool. But other than that, she was always still swimming while I went back past the showers, towards the lockers and changing cabins.
Sure, I had checked her out under water, in passing, and I noticed her wedding ring, just as im sure she had noticed mine. I guessed she was about 40 as well. And like me, she had a normal build. But the tight fitting bathing suit didn't give many tells.
