Problem posting pics

I like to post pics using the little box and adding in the image location, but sometimes the pic won't show up. Does the same thing on threads or pm's. Puzzles me because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Any suggestions?

you can't in PMs, end of discussion.

in posts, the pic needs to be hosted online somewhere. depending upon the nature of the pic in question, that may require some hunting for a site that's amenable to the pic being there.

not end of discussion, I do it in pm's all the time 70% of the time it works fine the rest of the time you get a little box with a?. As for threads, I usually post from tumblr, again it works roughly 70% of the time.

huh, was under impression it wasn't possible in PMs.

that's weird you can't in posts though. you haven't noticed any pattern in when it doesn't work, huh?

I can still post in threads, its just real inconsistent as to when it works. Its been happening more lately than it has in the past.

Some websites allow hot links, others don't. That is what is causing the image not to be displayed. The website you are trying to reference doesn't allow hot linking of images.

Private Messages don't allow attachments (images or other file types) but do allow hotlinked images and URLs.

To the original poster:

Post the URL to the image you're trying to hotlink as well as hotlinking it. That way if the image doesn't show, your correspondent(s) can follow the link (or C&P the link so it shows as being referred by another site)

The latter is effectively a hotlink block, but some sites don't accept any referrals from "Porn" sites; you not only can't hotlink them, you can't follow a link to them from Lit.

You might be making a mistake I often have to correct. I will mean to right click--->"copy image location" but because my eye sees "copy link location" first I click that not realizing that that image is both an image, plus a link to where it is stored or perhaps a larger version of the image.

Often times the url for the link location ends in .jpg so it LOOKS like it should work, but when you actually click the "image location" you will se it is a scramble of letters oftentimes.
