I cant find a word for my topic. The topic is almost never addressed but significant.
A sucker is an unwanted shoot tomato plants produce where a branch attaches to the stalk. Those who know pinch them off before they fuck up the plant.
In writing a sucker is action that does nothing but distract the readers attention.
An example: lets say the scene is about a drive by shooting and a car chase and crash. Lets say the story gets to the crash and the author samples the destruction and carnage at the wreck THEN digresses to obscess about the thalamus lying on the street. The thalamus oughta be there to startle and gross-out the reader NOT educate her about psycho-physiology. The digression I call a sucker. Stop writing them.
