Short humorous poem invented by Edmund Clerihew Bentley. It is biographical and usually whimsical, showing the subject from an unusual point of view, but it is hardy ever satirical, abusive, or obscene. It consists of four lines of irregular length (for comic effect) with a rhyme scheme of aabb. The first line consists solely (or almost solely) of a well-known person's name (the subject of the poem).

Carl Gustav Jung
was very well hung,
a fact which annoyed
Sigmund Freud.

Tzara's take on the subject

originally English slang from knobhead which is self explanatory! When we exported out criminals to Oz they took our slang with them!

also nob = posh/elite/gentry
and we all know how yobbish some nobbish can act

Oh, dear me!
I would never called that a lady like you.
I'm only writing for someone else's edification.

Fanny Squeers had quite a face,
a form that no one would embrace.
She came upon them honestly:
most Squeerses are monstrosities.

(Ok, it's a near rhyme but I wanted to write about the Squeerses.) :D

The thing about the Squeerses
is that they are rather queerses:
their charmless personality
is matched by their brutality.

Welcome Dr. Jeckyll
You who crow and heckle
Wallowing in pride
Until you're Mr. Hyde

Tristan and Isolde,
Stood out in the cold,
So she begged, "Perform!",
And he kept her warm.
