Who is planning on doing NaNoWriMo this year? National Novel Writing Month is almost upon us.

Who's in? Why has no one started a thread about this who is more organized than I am?

I am planning on participating this year. I did it for the first time two years ago, but only got to 26,000 words or so. Last year I planned to use my failed FAWC 2 story, but I got a huge amount of paid work in November and didn't have time. I plan to use that same story for this year. I've really been looking forward to working on it again.

I wish there were a cabin situation like there was for Summer NaNo, so people from Lit who wanted to support each other could.

Or is there? Am I missing some way we can do that?

November won't work for me. July is the only month that'll work until I retire. In 50 or so years.

Right, PL? You and I are in the same boat. Children who are in school all day for the first time, right? There is no excuse!

(Except for my uncanny clients who have a sixth sense for knowing when I need to get some writing done and pick that time to hand me a big job. Stay away, clients! Or just give me the little, easy stuff!)

I should do this... I'd actually have the time... Hmmm....

Sorry, I was sleepy last night when I logged on, and got into the wrong forum. One day I'll post and be entitled to be here.

Apologies.

I did it for the first time last year. It was fun. But I noticed a big drop in enthusiasm for writing anything for several months afterwards. I did a 'normal' story.

I should have the time, but I've changed my mind several times about doing it again with a sex story. Still don't know if I'll do it.

My story may or may not be "a sex story." I can't decide. It could work as YA or as erotica. I'm not sure which way I'll go. Sex scenes will boost the word count so ...

And except for all the errands that need running, cleaning that needs doing, etc. All that stuff gets in the way. My husband is good, and will tell me to write and not worry about that, but then what happens is I write, and the stuff doesn't get done until I do it later.

Yes, that is exactly the situation over here. I'm going to try really hard to find the balance.

I'll be doing it again, writing the sequel to the steampunk lady-detective novel I wrote for July NaNoWriMo. Still hammering my plot into submission but I should be ready to start when the calendar flips.

I'm in.

I thought about starting a thread.

You can begin a thread for Lit members in the NaNo forum. Erotic Fiction is the genre lounge we used in the past.

I'll let you know in a week or so. It all depends on how retirement goes. 5 Days and counting as of the present.

Congrats. My dad just had his last day this past Friday. Not exactly voluntary retirement, but at least he had a little time to prepare. It will be weird for him, not working.

After almost 42 years weird ain't the word for it.

I'm going to sign up, but whether or not I make the goal will be another story, we're waiting on the date for my wife's next surgery and we think it will be mid November and possible out of town

Not exactly an event that will inspire much of anything., but I plan on starting.

Isn't 50k words like, a short story for you? :D

I may sign up, not sure if I'll have the time to finish that but at least I could say I tried.

I swear there are days I just dream that I had that level of productivity. Damn

And I truly wish I could write a 4k stroker.....but everything, even simple porn tropes turns into a "real" story that just has a lot of sex.

First Time

I've signed up for NaNo for the first time ever! I'm intimidated but excited. I am taking 2 college courses, working full time, raising 2 kids, and playing on 2 sports teams, but, what the heck! lol

It's certainly not easy, done it once or twice to decent success but often enough they either end up longer or should have been written longer.
