Not "random" at all — follows directly.
I would imagine that for some there is a "biology fetish", but there is also simply the fun of "seeing it all". Often in porn (stills and movies) there are slightly awkward positions taken just so that the viewer can see more, the coupling, the insertion.
I've seen a couple videos made with micro cams (like used in arthroscopic surgery)
