I have no interest in male authors. Am I alone?

The only stories that interest me are those penned by females. I have no interest in the thoughts or fantasies of males at all. I wonder if others agree? Or am I being a philistine? Also, is there a way of filtering the search engine so it only finds female authors?

As for filtering - go here then click on Advanced Search. You will see a checkbox for male. Of course this assumes that all male authors check the male box in their profile. Then there are those females that don't want to get hit on and check the male box to be left alone.

As for you being a philistine? Sounds more like Homophobia IMHO.

I agree, homophobic.

Some guys would be very uncomfortable getting off by a story penned by a guy even if its a hot one. Too bad because what that shows is a man very insecure in his manhood.

Seeing I publish in the market as a female I wonder how many of these guys buy my books and get all hot and bothered by "Laura's" stories. :eek:
 
Thanks for your input. I am certainly not homophobic, but at the same time it would bother me being aroused by something a male wrote. Therefore if I have offended I apologise, just being honest with the way I felt..

Oh, you weren't being offensive, everyone is different and we all have insecurities that come out in different ways.

I think as men we all want to think our erotica is written by hot porn quality red heads who are typing with one hand while diddling with the other, but....

Not always the case and some of the hottest stories I have read here are by men. I just picture the story, I don't think about who wrote it.
 
Some of my most favorite stories on Lit are written by men...I really don't put the author's sex in the mix when reading the story. It's a story, why would the sex of the person telling it have anything to do with how good it is or if I got off reading it?

I have written many stories from the POV of the woman. I think I did a damn good job and so do the people who buy them. There is one best seller I have that is still being purchased at...my last look...10 copies a day. And that's just in the UK. They seem to love that story there.

Ah well, you're missing out on a lot of porn.

Question: Do you refuse to watch a porno that is produced or directed or written by a man? Just wondering.

I have no issue with porn written or filmed by males or females, :D my scrubbing comment was in jest.

You know I LOL at the statement "you are missing out on a lot of porn."

At one point I had amassed the internets worth of porn, it got so bad I had to delete it all on principle.

I would hate to think women are just playing along with a porno film because they simply acknowledge it's a man's fantasy but they are totally indifferent- but at least they're getting involved. Hey, maybe it's my problem, though for the life of me I cannot see how it means I somehow dislike male homosexuals..

That said, I cannot sometimes help feeling some female authors on the site are incognito re their sex. A classic is the brilliant Jane Marwood. I'd LOVE to think she is indeed a Jane, but something tells me otherwise. What do you think? Do you believe our respective sexes differ in style that only a true connoisseur could truly ascertain?...

There are a few female authors, but and I don't know this for sure, a lot are males masquerading as females just to get by guys like you, who for some reason can't disassociate the author with the story. In most cases there is no link between the two.

When I tell a story, it may be from the female pov or the male pov or from some third persons pov. Just because I male should have no bearing on how good the story is or isn't. I'm fairly sure there are female writers who use a male pen name because they feel it get them more respect. Do I know this for a fact? No, not really.

Well I was being kind...how the hell does my point make me have 'An intense hatred of homosexuals?' Don't get the connection at all..

I do not believe men would be better or worse at writing. Though for me it's rather like getting a BJ from an unknown in the cinema only to ascertain it's a male (!) Brutal analogy perhaps but hey...
 
I don't think there's any filter you can apply on gender of the author because I think there are a large number of authors successfully delivering stories supposedly written by the other gender. I have two active "other gender" accounts here myself and I have seen no indication in either that readers question the gender of the author.

That said, I think sometimes the gender of the story is obvious, so I guess you'll just have to read a bit into a lot of stories to find full stories you would like to read.

Well maybe not an intense hatred of them, but fear you my be thought one or are one. The dislike of a story based on the sex of the author? Homophobic for sure. Thinking that getting off from words written by a man is wrong/bad/sick? Homophobic, definitely.

I don't know what to tell you...except to quit reading erotica, because there is no way to tell what the sex of the author really is. Just as men have female alts so do women have male alts. Now I bet you're really confused?

By checking that female checkbox it may give him piece of mind on what he is reading.
 
In a sense I am with Duranman in that I enjoy reading first person stories written in the voice of a woman more than I reading these stories in the voice of a man. That being said, many stories are 3rd person and it doesn't seem to matter as much because the voice has less gender.

I will say that the stories I have enjoyed the most that were written in the voice of a woman, actually were written by men. Many of the stories that are actually written by women get a little too 'romancy' for me. Not saying romance is bad... just saying that I like my smut a little smuttier.

I don't see any practical way to search for first person, woman's voice stories either.
 
I don't get it - would you be uncomfortable feeling aroused if a male friend described a hot woman to you? You're getting aroused by the description of the woman, not by who is saying it. You can even test that with science - are you aroused when your friend is talking about politics? Sports? Computers? No? Then clearly it's not him, but the specific topic. Writing is just talking, written down.

Also I'll tell you that as an author, I have no idea when someone reads one of my stories unless they choose to leave feedback. As a reader, I've enjoyed stories by an author I wouldn't particularly want to hug, much less get naked with. Reading is just not a personal or intimate experience between the author and the reader. It can be an intense personal experience for the write when writing it, OR for the reader when reading it, but the two aren't connected.
 
I can understand this because I usually gravitate towards authors that are male. I have a preference to read things from the male perspective. But I know women can be just as passionate or even more. But most of the times I can't even tell if some of the authors are male or female because the names are so unusual.
 
I could recommend some excellent female authors here at Lit for you.

Unfortunately they tend to write in the gay male category, so you probably wouldn't be happy with their offerings. ;)
