Awhile ago it was brought up to include tags for poems and you mentioned that you'd look into having something like that implemented. I was wondering how the implementation was going?

TBH, I don't know why the tags aren't displayed alongside the poems. There has always been a place for them on the Poetry submission form, and I even included them in our Story Tags how-to:

I'm sure it's an easily rectified oversight. I told Manu and the gang a bit ago so I'm sure it's in the queue. Of course, the queue is pretty lengthy, partially because I keep putting things in it.

They're not around until Monday, so I've left a note for them to nudge them a little. :rose:

I talked to our project manager today about the Poetry Tags today. It was a long discussion, but the gist is that the poetry tags and tags on the Illustrations section won't be out with the next site upgrades. Boo!

The reasons for this are (and this is my non-techie explanation) that some other things have to happen before those two types of tags can be implemented.

BUT he said that he would very much like all poets to start putting tags on ALL submitted poems so that when the poetry tag portal is launched there are relevant tags to be navigated. We will try to add tags on our end, but author-created tags would more likely be more on topic.

It's a how-to for stories, but the basic idea is the same. You have to take a look at your poem, see what the general theme is, imagine the ideal reader for the piece, and then add tags that express these things. Additionally, you should add tags denoting the poetry form (sonnet, cinquain, haiku, limerick, etc.) so that readers of those forms can more easily find your work.

For example, suppose you've written a sonnet expressing love from a husband to his wife on their anniversary. A red rose is a major part of the imagery. Your tags may be:
sonnet
romantic
married
happily married
true love
love poem
wife
husband
anniversary
rose

As explained in the how-to above, you want to keep your tags shortish (one-to-four words at most) and relevant to what your audience might search for.

How bout a compromise until Tags are fixed?

A little creative editing in under 60 seconds on page http://literotica.com/stories and poems would likely get more exposure with minimal loss of exposure for stories.

On adding tags, will there be a way to submit them through our control panel like when the story tags were submitted? Also, if we decide to edit a poem, we can add the tags when we resubmit?

We've always been able to add tags since the feature was offered way back when.

Nah, I don't have the feature where you can add tags to already posted poems. I can however add tags to new poems I submit. I was asking about the posted poems.

I long for the functionality of being able to edit out our typos and bloopers and make minor tweaks without having to resubmit entire poems.
