It depends on whether people honor it or not. It appears to be an informal, suggested rule (with which I completely agree). For this post, I type elsewhere, and when completed, refresh the page and see if anybody has beaten me in. If not, I paste and post.

When you edit, then the post isn't visible while you're editing. That's why I missed it. Instead of editing the "dibs" post, we should make a fresh post.
