For these and other reasons, get ready.

All of them will use the term incorrectly.
BB will spell it wrong (probably with a space) in every thread.
AJ and vette will make false claims related to the term every 20 minutes or so.
beew will try to use it to look hip, and claim discrimination.
Saint_Ann won't bother to learn about what it means (he can't even deal with animated gifs).
Pot Boy and LT will claim they're used to make men look bad.

(But somewhere, Gusty Wind will be putting Björk's face on a porn star, balancing out the universe.)

A deep fake (two words) is a football play whereby a wide receiver runs a deep post pattern and draws away the corner backs and safety, while a running back or tight end goes short on the other side of the field, covered only by a linebacker, to catch a short pass.

Deepfakes are a legitimate concern in politics. Throw in Omarosa and a healthy dose of skepticism is probably a good thing and it's only gonna take one to undermine anything real before or after.
I wish I could say most outlets would check before releasing anything but we all know they don't always do that. Ratings and clicks first, truth second.
