Dr D's Dastardly Den

Thought I'd try to post a sketch or two from time to time. Let's see how this works...

They work.
And I like 'em.

The B&W with RED Accent is great.

Cool! And thanks! The tools I'm using right now work a lot better for sketching/drawing than 'painting' (for instance, the brushes are all round... aargh! and there's no blending or any of that nonsense), but a little bit of color can really set a piece off, so I try...

What program and hardware do you use, currently?
I sue Photoshop CC and a wacom tablet (a MUST to get full use of brushes) on with a MAC.

I have sketchbook pro, and it has some great features, but I have not really explored.

I am using a Surface Pro 4- which is vastly better than the Surface Pro 3 that I had briefly before it met a ghastly end. The screen is not as big as I would like, but is super high res.

For software I am mostly using Mischief, because it just feels better when drawing. It's very natural. Also, it is vector-based, and has infinite canvas/infinite zoom, so I don't have pick the right canvas size/resolution before I get started, and it's very fast, no lag. But, of course, there are pretty narrow limits on the tools and brushes. What I would describe as the 'pencil' and 'charcoal' are very friendly, the ink tool is okay, the others I mostly avoid.
I also have Sketchbook Pro, but I have 6 and 8 is the current version. 6, which is disk-based, perpetual license, has been pretty much abandoned by Autodesk in favor of 8, which is subscription. I used it on the SP3, but struggled with it. It has great brushes, but they really didn't feel good to me, tactiley, and I didn't get far with it before the Great Calamity. I just installed it on the new tablet, but haven't really used it. I think I may try to create some kind of workflow that involves sketching, and perhaps cleaning, in Mischief, exporting as a big PSD, and importing to Sketchbook for color work, but I'm not there yet.

sounds like you are further into digital drawing than I.

I still do most of my drawing on paper.

Lot's of photoshop work for real life work, but not much call to "draw".

Funny (NOT), I recently had a "Great Calamity" as well. ACK! Now that I look, my Sketchbook Pro is NOT installed, and cannot be. oh well. Was 2009 version!

I have a version of Painter (that came packaged in a paint can) somewhere in the basement...obsolete.

Doncha love obsolete software?
I would probably still be drawing on paper if I could scan worth a shit, but my scans always look terrible, it's not worth the work to clean them up. Now I don't have to- in that sense. But now I am in love with the UNDO feature. And layers. Mmmm.... layers....

Yes....layers!
and UNDO!!

Scanning can be a pain, but I can also improve on the originals...and try out diff values etc... so, there's that.

I can usually make another drawing in the time it takes me to produce a halfway acceptable scan. One of the reasons that figuring out all this digital art stuff seems worthwhile- double the productivity right there.

Thanks! Glad you like it. I try to do some practice sketching from internet porn pretty frequently, it tends to be a bit more 'realistic' than some of my other work because there's something to look at while I draw. I'm actually trying to get a little less realistic with the sketches, I can have a tendency to follow the reference too closely, but I think this one worked alright, and you seem to agree. So that's a good sign.

Thanks! I do too- colored grounds in general, ink and chalk, or gouache. No actual paper involved here, though; I'm trying to transition into digital.

Fun!
A favorite topic of mine. I have quite a few on that theme, too.

Never drew pixie sex before, myself. The thread was about the how-to's- how would you manage it. I have a couple of other rough sketches I may polish up a bit. All in all, though, I think I may avoid dating pixies.

A big pixie or a small dick, but it still isn't going to work...

Thanks, Coffee! I must confess, I am a bit puzzled by the pixie sex thing. Does the impossibility of 'normal' consummation add to the appeal? Is it just a 'cute little girl confronts enormous cock' thing? If someone would explain it to me I might make better pixie-porn.

I like the pixie drawing too. I think it's pretty erotic. I don't know much about pixie porn either, but...pixies are cute, tiny, magical...usually drawn or imagined with perfect features and body proportions...can be very sexy. If you met a pixie in the woods, and there was some way you could have a sexual experience with her...wouldn't you?
