Haven'r looked through this entire thread....has there been any love for Amon Amarth? Viking metal!

If you like Amon Amarth, try Thyrfing. Or the absolutely underrated Mithotyn. Or, if you want to be extra exotic, how about Tyr, off the Farøer Islands? Moonsorrow would fit too. Maybe Ensiferum.

Once you've Youtube'd these, we can talk Vikings, LC :)

Edit: How could I forget the ancestors of Viking Metal, Bathory? "Hammerheart", "Twilight Of The Gods" and "Blood On Ice" are must-hears. And with Ereb Altor there even is a decent clone around since Bathory died with Quorthon.

Not really Viking Metal but check this band out: Season’s of the wolf - Victim of darkness.

It has a certain mysticism about it that is appealing🌹
Invokes images of wizards, magic, and sorcery.

You mentioned German death metal. I was into Deadlock a few years ago. Wolves was my favorite album by them.

Morgoth and Bethlehem top my German playlists for heavy stuff. But, I also love KMFDM and Rammstein as well.

Definitely KMFDM. How about Die Krupps? They're more industrial than metal. KMFDM actually samples Slayer.

I’ve listened to Die Krupps. There okay, not my favorites. I got introduced to them when they started covering Metallica.

A classic from my doom metal days.
Anyone remember Liv Kristine and Nick Holmes(Paradise Lost) doing this duet song “3am.”? When I dug this out of my trunk full of CD’s it made me want to write until my fingers bled with emotion🌹

This is one of my fav combinations.

bauhaus stigmata martyr over a scene from the campy, but vastly under rated horror film Night of the Demons. This dance scene did....things for me when I was young.

Maybe someday the scene from my latest erotic horror novel where the infamous goth with Abigail Lefay strips to this in her club The Black Flame.

Just stumbled onto this video and will be looking at more for sure.

Frantic Amber....

The lead singer Elizabeth Andrews is one vicious looking woman....back when I was single I'd look at her and say I'd take her or die trying.

Odds may be in her favor though.

Yes. She looks like the sort of hellcat worth pursuing.

You might wake up next to her and she's eaten your liver as well

Another Lord of the Lost song I’ve fallen in love with: Drag me to Hell

This German band has uprooted most everything in my playlist as of late. They are 1000 times better than anything Pyogenisis ever did and I loved them until I discovered a band called Gorefest.

If not for the historical factor, I would have put some song lyrics into my newest chapter of “Best Friends Forever (part 3), but the song didn’t come out in 2008 when the story is set. Oh, well, it will still make a great addition to any future writings💋

I’m going to throw my two cents in and agree that good music transcends genre boundaries as well. Partly because my favorite vocalist is Waylon Jennings- definitely not metal there🌹Kant👠👠👠

Amen. I go way back with Waylon and many of the outlaw country artists. My uncles got me started with them. Too many to list, but he still stands out above the rest. I still listen to him because his music is just raw. Strikes a chord with me.

I'm a huge metal fan. Currently on a bit of a sludge and grindcore kick. Current favorites include Primitive Man, Grief, Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire, Sick Shit, Leechfeast, Noothgrush, Wormrot, etc.

And I did enjoy. Quite so. Thank you again.

Alright. Unsolicited recommendation alert. You might want to check out Ayreon, a dutch prog metal project. Both the vocalist of Mundanus Imperium and Magali Luyten have worked with Arjen, the dude behind Ayreon, in the past and if you liked both songs, then I'm damn certain you'll enjoy what he has to offer. The best thing? He recently released a good chunk of his past work on Youtube.

Go into the Playlists area and pick either "01011001" or "The Human Equation". Both are fantastic springboards, but in my opinion Arjen has yet to release a "bad" album. If you like his style, check out "The Theory of Everything" and "Into the Electric Castle", two of my favorite albums.

Let me know how it went, please.

She has joined my "Or die trying" Club:D
You are making quite the list.

How have I never heard of this group?!?

(Oh, right. I live in a work-all-the-damn-time bubble.)

Comatose...Liquid Eternity...The Dream Dissolves...Day Eight:School (heck, everyday!)...Across the Rainbow Bridge...The Mirror Maze...and on and on...

That music! It's a total sound-gasm. I've spent the last hour+ experiencing the brilliance, and I still haven't begun to get enough of it.

I. Want. More.

My most sincere thanks. Unsolicit recommend me anytime. :)

You're welcome.

Well, Arjen is quite the busy man. Besides Ayreon, he's had his fingers in a handful of other projects. Star One and The Gentle Storm should be the easiest to enjoy when coming off an Ayreon bender, but there's more if you're feeling adventurous. A good place to start is either the Ayreon homepage or the Wikipedia article. Since Arjen loves to invite guest vocalists he personally likes, you might find a wealth of new music just by checking out said vocalists' main bands. Both places should have the list of his partners in crime.

Mmm...fingers. But I digress...

On my way...
