Just Another Weekend In Chicago: 4 Killed, 33 Wounded In Shootings

No Confederate Flag in sight

Gee, gun control is a great thing, isn’t it?

CHICAGO (Sun Times Media Wire) – Four men were killed and at least 33 other people have been wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday evening.

In the most recent fatal shooting, a man was killed and a teenage boy was critically wounded in a Sunday night shooting in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

They were playing dice in the 1800 block of South Springfield about 9:45 p.m. when two males approached and fired shots, police said.

The 19-year-old man was shot multiple times and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The 16-year-old boy was shot in the head and taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

compare GUN sales

to

gun VIOLENCE

so the answer is indeed, THAT

the real answer is LESS CRIMINALS and LIBERALS, but I repeat myself

I would bet the vast majority of the shooters are prohibited from possessing a firearm of any description.

Obviously not....

What is your point?

Shootings in Chicago are gang related. The vast majority of ehom have felony records. There's no point in gun control when absolute gun prohibition for known felons doesn't work.

Actually no, only a relatively small number of them do.

There's no point in gun control when absolute gun prohibition for known felons doesn't work.

So for you it's either a free for all or total prohibition and there isn't a FUCKING thing in between right?

LOL..........must be nice living in such a black and white world.

Back in the real world there are all kinds of legal changes we can make to better suit 2015 and our future with regard to gun laws that fall between the two extremes both sides of ultra partisanship like to make their absurd cases for.

But that would be difficult and take 20 seconds of thought so I don't expect anything from the general public much less congress anytime soon.

Sorry I don't buy your opinion piece over empirical evidence/official statistics.

Restricting gun ownership works....

It doesnt take 20 seconds to realize we cannot meaningfully enforce prohibiting anything. It isn't a mystery who is shooting whom. They are doing so with bare-bones easilly available, cheap 9mms. No discussion or legislation changes that at all.

not in Chicago or Baltimore

Well no shit....when you have a free for all gun show just outside of town or across the state line even "Gangsters come stock up for the weekend!! SALL NAWT BE INFRINGED!!!" sale every other Thursday it's kind of self defeating.

Toothless laws that in reality do nothing are not laws at all......and 'gun control' as we have known it in the US will continue to be just that until we all get on the same fucking page as a nation and implement some sort of controls over hand gun ownership/carry.

where do you see an opinion piece?

Top of the page bub....it's an opinion piece.

Funny.....it worked great with machine guns and destructive devices. ;)

How many full autos you see on the streets mowing down entire PD's and shit Bonnie and Clyde/Capone style?

So quit making the 9mm's so fucking cheap and easily available.....

Because your side of the issue refuses to discuss it.

You simply stonewall with total fallacies then pretend rule of law is totally ineffective and irrelevant for just this subject despite all the evidence in the world to the contrary.

you cant be that thick....please, say you arent this thick:(

its based on STUDIES and FACTS

A couple of new studies reveal the gun-control hypesters’ worst nightmare…more people are buying firearms, while firearm-related homicides and suicides are steadily diminishing. What crackpots came up with these conclusions? One set of statistics was compiled by the U.S. Department of Justice. The other was reported by the Pew Research Center.

According to DOJ’s Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. gun-related homicides dropped 39 percent over the course of 18 years, from 18,253 during 1993, to 11,101 in 2011. During the same period, non-fatal firearm crimes decreased even more, a whopping 69 percent. The majority of those declines in both categories occurred during the first 10 years of that time frame. Firearm homicides declined from 1993 to 1999, rose through 2006, and then declined again through 2011. Non-fatal firearm violence declined from 1993 through 2004, then fluctuated in the mid-to-late 2000s.

Doesn't change the fact that readily available cheap handguns are a problem in the US and are a large contributor to the reason we are the most violent/dangerous non 3rd world shit hole.

Not your nor this guys opinion changes the fact that this largely stems from the US being a total cluster fuck when it comes to gun laws. And we can do something to change that....more than likely improving the situation if we replace it with something less cluster fucked.

What's to discuss? You could ban all hanguns, cheap, expensive whatever. They will just import them with the same mules they use for drugs. They make zip guns in prison.

No it didn't. Inflation and lawyers suing companies made full auto impractical for a disposable weapon. Assassins and drivebys do not need lots of rounds or accuracy since they pick time and place and distance.

The hand gun problem in the USA...

No one is talking about banning nor that it will be 110% perfect.....

Once again you try to force the situation in to a black and white, nothing in between it's gotta be perfect or there is zero point in rule of law. Which is a crock of shit.

If what you say is true then why have ANY LAWS at ALL?

Hey people will break them why not just total fucking anarchy right? RIGHT? Lie to everyone on the board and claim laws don't have any effect on a societies behavior. :D

LOL you're lying to yourself.....full auto crime stopped practically over fucking night, because it became very difficult to get hold of them.

Lawyers nor inflation even came into the full auto equation until nearly 30 years later when supplies started getting thin and suing people just because became the #1 American past time.
