Paul Ryan's Very Bad Week just got 100 times worse....

Harry Reid appoints Bernie Sanders to House-Senate Budget Conference Committee

Bernie Sanders has fought extremist Paul Ryan's "Let Grandma Eat Cat Food" fiscal insanity at every step of the way.

This is turning into a very good week for Democrats.

Would you characterize the appointment of a self-professed communist to a committee to RESOLVE differences as:

A) a good faith effort by Reid to insure a reasonable accommodation is reached..

and

B) a win for the "totally not socialist at all" Democrats?

And by the by:

Whats your plan for your generation's "grandmas?"

by the way putting "extremist" in front of your opponents names is passe'

Try "anarchist" "hostage taking" or "bomb-throwing"

Try Democratic Socialist, not Communist. If you're going to label someone at least use the correct label. He caucuses with the Democratic Party, but technically he's an Independent.

Paul Ryan is an extremist by any definition of the word. Although I suppose anarchist fits, his hand in the shutdown shows he's not averse to hostage taking, although I doubt he'd have the intestinal fortitude to go within 5 miles of an explosive.

I didn't say Communist, I said communist. I have no idea whether he belongs to the Communist Party as well whether it be here or Russia.

He supports communist ideology... not european-style democratic socialism straight up communism.

Not my label, his. The democrats wanted his votes and a softer-sounding label.

He is assuredly for state control of the means of production.

Would YOU vote for him?

Actually, he would much rather we followed the Scandinavian model of Socialist Democracy than Communism.

His label is Democratic Socialist, but since he's not a member of a formal political party and so is listed as Independent.

Unless he runs for national office there's no reason for me to consider if I would vote for him or not. I'm sure as hell not moving to Vermont.

However, hypothetically...
Looking at his past performance:

RIGHTS:
Sanders is a staunch supporter of a universal health care system, and has said "f you are serious about real healthcare reform, the only way to go is single-payer". Sanders is a social liberal, supporting LGBT rights, same-sex marriage, and pro-choice legislation. In the House he voted against the Defense of Marriage Act.

BUDGET:
On September 24, 2008, Senator Sanders posted on his website a letter to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, against the initial bailout proposal, drawing more than 8,000 citizen cosigners in the first 24 hours. On January 26, 2009, Sanders and Democrats Robert Byrd, Russ Feingold and Tom Harkin were the sole majority members to vote against confirmation of Timothy Geithner to be United States Secretary of the Treasury. On December 10, 2010, Sanders delivered an 8½-hour speech against the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010, the proposed extension of the Bush-era tax rates that eventually became law.

2013 US shutdown:

“The real issue here, if you look at the Koch Brothers' agenda, is: look at what many of the extreme right-wing people believe. Obamacare is just the tip of the iceberg. These people want to abolish the concept of the minimum wage, they want to privatize the Veteran's Administration, they want to privatize Social Security, end Medicare as we know it, massive cuts in Medicaid, wipe out the EPA, you don’t have an Environmental Protection Agency anymore, Department of Energy gone, Department of Education gone. That is the agenda. And many people don’t understand that the Koch Brothers have poured hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars into the tea party and two other kinds of ancillary organizations to push this agenda."

I'm not seeing any major disagreements I have with with his ideas here.

I always look forward to seeing you posting crap as you never let me down with your stupidity!

just wanted to say, "Thank you"

New BLS employment report out today. Highlights:

- +148k jobs plus +9k in past-month revisions

- Unemployment rate dropped to 7.2%

- labor force participation rate unchanged

- Hourly wages rose 3 cents

- Discouraged workers and marginally attached workers dropped

- The U-6 declined .1%.

- The number of people working part-time jobs shrank by -357,000. The conservative narrative about Obamacare moving us to a PT economy was once again crushed by reality.

That's gonna be a bitch to spin.

That -357,000 part-time job statistic is only people working PT for economic reasons. If you want to look at all PT jobs, the figure is-596,000.

EDIT: my bad it's "just" -357,000. :)

Total change in PT jobs over the past twelve months: -442,000.

Hmm, that runs counter to The Narrative™

I bet Vetteman is gonna feel might foolish about misleading us! :)
oh who am I kidding...he's gonna deny, deflect and distort...

U.S. stocks opened higher on Tuesday after weaker-than-expected job creation last month raised expectations that the Federal Reserve will continue to stimulate the economy at the current pace.

One of the money gurus predicts the QE scam is here to stay, as no federal program has ever been terminated.

I found some doom and gloom... The republicans are helping JP Morgan write off 4.5 billion of the historic 13.5 billion dollar fine for their role in housing securities debacle that led to the financial collapse of 2008.

Guess who the republicans want to pay the 4.5 billion?

Taxpayers!

It's set-up as a "write-off".

Go doom and gloom republicans!

Some are calling for trillion a month quantitative easing:cool:

13.5 billion the cost of doing business to JP Morgan they have already made that off the free money they have gotten from the government playing in the commodities market

Hey welfare daddy, how is the economy? Now that you are on welfare, guessing no new wheels for the home?

How often does one need to replace the cinder blocks the trailer rests on?

Now I know why u love the obana: welfare!

Live long comrade maybe uncle obana will supply u with new wheels for the home

Women's employment has now recovered to pre-Bush Recession levels. Men's employment still lagging, Vetteman still unemployed.
