Wet Dreams Exposed

Wet Dreams are an odd sort of thing. Maybe you won't remember a thing maybe you will and it will be the most random fantasy you'll ever have. Still, nobody ever has to know about that fantasy you had where you blew the 12 foot cock of a multi-headed chimera of your Elementary school teachers faces while humping a sentient ball of play-doh unless you come out and tell them.

...but what if it was a lot harder to keep those secrets? What if your wet dreams could be put on display for everyone to see or could be extracted from your head?

1. Our lead has a super power which he can't really control: He can create visual representations of anything he thinks or dreams about. While this power could be amazingly useful to him once controlled, he unconsciously creates his fantasies while daydreaming or asleep.

So during the daytime, he has to keep focused on his work lest lingerie clad versions of his fellow students or coworkers don't start strolling around.

And at night, he has to pray his family leaves him alone, no matter what his dreams start projecting. Which when he was a kid was awkward enough when his overactive mind would make his boogeymen come to life...while as an 18+ guy, he can pop out anything from all of his female classmates dressed up in oil and loincloths, to his grandmother, mother, and sister jumping his bones.

2. Everybody can project their thoughts and dreams. While it makes communication easier an allows for a new type of art to develop, people have to keep themselves more guarded than ever: private eyes and tabloid reporters are more invasive as ever as people's sexual fantasies can get put on display.

3. A therapist uses a device to draw out her patient's fantasies. It's a boon to therapy but what happens when an assistant builds a replica and takes it out in public, allowing them to drag out any fantasy, conscious or not, that someone has recently had?

#2 seems the consequence of advancing biocircuit technology, with chips integrated into our nervous systems allowing effective telepathy. The data streams are encrypted, of course, and are obviously subject to hacking, interception, spoofing, viral attacks, etc. This is a straight Hard SciFi scenario, no fantasy.

#1 and #3 would be most interesting if the projected thoughts actually materialize.

In #1, Superguy fantasizes about sis and her BFFs and voila! Either they bend to his will, or copies of them pop into existence, ready and willing to perform. What happens if a copy meets its original? Does sis join in with her bro and her clone?

In #3, the captured fantasy manifests as a miniature tableau within an enclosure like a small aquarium, maybe 25x50x75 cm / 10x20x30 in. Is the projection merely audio-visual, or are the miniature players biologically alive and forever imprisoned?

As far as #1 that would have to be an ability to warp reality, as well as directly broadcast depending on thought type. He sees his dream girl walking down the hall, imagines her nude, and bam shes nude, everybody sees it. Consequently; He's sitting in class thinking about what he'd do to her, and bam the class is sitting in his bedroom in what can only be described as an overlayed halogram(Optimis Prime telling Sam about the cybertron war: Transformers 1) watching a second main character and the chick getting it on.

Yeah, reality-warping. We're into deep fantasy here. Question is, do superguy and supergal have conscious control of their powers, or are they involuntary? I recall old mainstream SciFi tales of poor schlubs who are constant telepathic receivers: they overhear thoughts of everyone near them, driving them mad. Are our players constant emitters of materialized fantasies, incapable of muzzling?

And what impact have they on surrounding society? Wouldn't those around them notice the strange effects? Assume our players live in altered-reality bubbles. Their fantasies include invulnerability, so no outside forces can harm them... unless they want to be hurt. Can they mentally keep their friends and family from realizing what's happening?

That's the point; everyone would see it. They see who he's fucking in his head, they themselves can be subject in deep thought. Maybe since a tinfoil hat would be rather embarassing, some sort of headpiece can block- Like magneto and juggarnaught wear. Some superpowered beings(See Scott or rogue) have no control. Maybe eventully somebody- science teacher makes some phycic blocking tiara or something

The HAARP mindcontrol frequencies nicely penetrate tinfoil hats. Let's assume telepathy is similarly unrestrained. Again, the question: do the player's manipulations actually manifest physically, or only as mental images? And can the player consciously switch the effects on-and-off?

If it's all mental, then the player projects; all those around them experience the fantays; but nothing changed in the outside world. If it's physical, then targets really do get stripped, fucked, watched, etc before they revert to reality. Are they satisfied?

The harder he would concentrate, the rmore it would warp reality. Deep in thought= actual things happen, that hot upperclassmans clothes are now gone, realty altered, simply day dreaming= thought projection.

So it's a mix, but with a control switch for material manifestation: focus on it and it happens. Does he also control the projections?

I know, it's nit-picking. But IMHO the level of control sets the story options and outcomes. Someone who projects willy-nilly leaves a wider swathe of disruptions than one who must focus to make it happen. Walk down the street; folks around you go naked and nasty. Yow. But a conscious projector could have big impact also. How about a televangelist who projects hot holy visions into their viewers?

I visualize a story cycle covering the various level of control, stories where some are uncontrolled both mentally and physically, where some control their projections, where some control the manifestations. How do each of those play out?

Think of the projections as his imagination "running away," he's just sitting in class zoned out and like a "stage" just pours out. Control is a rather strong word, control what happens sure, but actuall control the abilities, no. It's like Scott Summers/Cyclops of X-Men; he can't control his optic blast, if his eyes are open then he's shooting something, but he can with his red filtered visor and sunglasses. You can control your thoughts, but you can't control the brain functions. Maybe he can hold back the weaker urges, but we are talking about the brain, can you really sit and not have a single thought, maybe some people can turn off their mind, some can't.

Maybe DC's Raven is a better example, she has powers kinda empathic, based off her emotions, she has to keepnher emotions in check, or her powers go haywire.

Any worthwhile story has a backstory. Our psychic projector-manifestor didn't come fully-blown into their powers at age 18. Like Superboy, they had a tense childhood. Maybe their expositions were weaker when they were younger; sexual maturity brings them into full swing. But the onset of puberty was problematic. How did family, friends, and neighbors react to flashes of libidinous revelation? Did people avoid their vicinity? Did dogs flee?
