The ACA WAS the 1990s Republican plan. That's the irony that you're failing to see.

THe Republicant's came up with Obamacare.

It just took a different party than the Republicans to get anything done with it. Nothing new there.

Lot of truth to that. As previously noted in this thread, I think many Republicans in Congress were ready for a Clinton presidency and in fact secretly hoped for it. The last thing many Republicans want is a border wall and real control over who is working here, and many of them also support Obamacare if only because they don't want to be seen as mean-spirited.
The other last thing many Republicans wanted was Trump in the White House. Trump is holding firm on the wall, which is popular, while also holding the door open for the so-called Dreamers, which is also popular. When you talk about bad optics, pulling many Dreamers out of the country would be high on the list.
We've played that game too long, going back to the Reagan era where an amnesty was granted but the promised funding for a wall never materialized. Ten years ago a wall was promised again (and a whole lot of Democrats and so-called Republicans voted for it), but nothing happened.
If Republicans can't reform the tax code before the end of the year, shame on them.

I didn't fail to see that, I know who came up with it I just don't care because guess who it was that bent me over and forced it upon me with the full weight of the US Government behind it?

Hint: There weren't any Republicans that voted for nor was it a Republican that signed it into law thus making it a problem for me.

Once again.....the Republicans not doing anything, is better than Democrats
passing and enforcing Republican policy even Republicans don't want.

Though watching their loyal subjects defend it and try to blame (R)'s for ACA is a lot of fun.

Don't worry... Single payer is coming. Not only will it reduce costs, it will also cause capitalist fundamentalists to blow a gasket.

It's a win/win.

Don't forget the reduction in quality and service! DMV style HC.....oh yea that's exciting!!

Nah...even if you and the other socialist get your wish and the government takes full ownership of the HC industry outlawing private care it will just create a grey or even black market.

I'll still be able to write a check, get premium service and watch all the socialist cry about the injustice and inequality!!!

A long time ago I served in Germany, which has been single-payer since forever. I had a number of German friends and they all agreed on one thing: They would prefer to get medical care in an Army hospital.

So you refuse to go to the VA, right? You pay for all of your health care out of pocket, right? Exchanges and insurance are SOCIALISM!!!!

My problem with that government HC is that while it works and isn't bad per-se you still don't have control.

You can't look at the O5-O6 and be all "Sir I don't like your creepy ass and your nurse is abusive. " and go see another doc.

You take what you get, and you like it, because Army life.

Which is fine for the military because their life is all about that suck.

As a freedom loving civilian however I want to pick my own doctor, don't want the government picking my doctor for me.

Nope, I want my 54,000 dollar a year tax break so I go get my physicals when they require them.

No the insurance company pays for some. But most of it yea because I can cover all the non-catastrophic shit pretty much whenever.

So single payer will reduce costs, huh? That's what Obamacare was supposed to do.

Anyone dumb enough to think government involvement in anything will make it less expensive needs to be euthanized. They're hopeless.

Ah, they do. But it won't kick in till December 2018, Gups will thoroughly stomp Dums in state elections. House and Senate will be overwhelmingly in Ryan and McConnell's hands. They can take the brute-force path then.

Other than trying to install a social control agenda, there is no plan. They want to tell people where they can pee, who they can marry, and what they can do with their body, but that's not the same as governing...

Okay, so call it ruling... with an iron fist. Censor political and scientific discussions. Bulk-up paramilitary and police forces to maintain order. Disenfranchise all who can't be deported. And get rich on bribes and skims. That's the plan.
