So, Trump is killing the American farms, he's killing America's tourism industry, he's killing jobs in the healthcare industry, he's killing green energy jobs and he's putting America on a path to fiscal ruin with his trillion-dollar-plus deficits.

Seriously? The Republicans are chronically damaging the economy and the Democrats are chronically cleaning up the economic messes that the Republicans leave behind!
For example:
When Bush and Cheney were in the White House, the number of unemployed Americans rose to 9.5 million.
Under Bush and Cheney, one in six homeowners were under water, owing more on their mortgage than their home is worth. Under Bush and Cheney, Americans have lost an estimated $5 trillion in the value of their homes.
Under Bush and Cheney, the poverty rate increased from 11.3 to 12.5 percent and the number of Americans living in poverty rose by 5.7 million. Under Bush and Cheney, some twenty-eight million Americans were on food stamps. That’s a historic high, the highest ever since the food stamp program began.
Under Barack Obama, unemployment went down, home values went up and the number of Americans living in poverty went way down. The number of Americans on food stamps also went down.
The economy took a nosedive under Bush and Cheney, and then Obama came in and enacted common-sense policies that caused all the economic numbers to improve.

Under Trump we are experiencing the tail end of an economic expansion that began under President Obama.
Trump is doing nothing of a sustained nature to promote economic growth. Cutting taxes while increasing military spending is like training for a sport while taking amphetamines and steroids.
Raising tariffs will raise prices.
Reducing government regulations makes consumer goods less safe, and working environments more dangerous.

Stock market and jobs went up during the Obama years, too, but the wages of millions stagnated, so they accepted the world’s stupidest criticism of Obama (worst recovery ever!) and their counties became Trump Country.
How are Trump Country wages doing? How is the Trump Country cost of living doing, as they pay the tariffs meant to discourage big business and retail from importing Chinese material and goods, even though their profit margin is still higher importing than if they bought American?
How are the wages and cost of living doing in urban areas?
Do you know how close the United Steelworkers are to a national strike, as the steel industry swallows the gains Trump’s tax cuts and tariffs have given it and still expect their employees to accept the extreme austerity measures of the past?

i live in a midsized middle american town. for the second year in a row, the poverty rate has increased rather than shrinking. wages have risen an average of 4%. adjust current wages for inflation and you'll find that the amount is actually less than the median income in the mid 1970's. it's the economy, all right.

Nothing that Democrats as Democrats have done since 1913 has done the economy any harm, quite the reverse. It's those who still endorse supply-side trickle-down neoliberal economic libertarianism who hate the economy; in the past 40 years, those policies have accomplished absolutely nothing but their intended purpose, which is to make the rich richer.

It is certainly not socialism, however broadly defined, that is the problem.
There are several happily thriving social democracies (whether that counts as socialism is debatable) in Europe and elsewhere -- not economies as big as the US, of course, because they're smaller countries.
Then so much the worse for freedom.
