(No, not that kind of food porn - pervs. ;) :D )

I like to cook. Well specifically bake. There's something about the precision of baking transformed into the artistry of the finished product that speaks to me.

Being it looks like you guys may be stuck with me a while, I'm going to torture you with my baking/cooking exploits. I do this a couple times a month, just depending.

This week's project was strawberry cream Danish. I made the dough last week and popped it in the freezer. This week it came out to play and was joined by vanilla pastry cream and strawberry filling topped with a simple glaze.

Damn tasty. I was a bit greedy. I had two pieces.

looks and sounds delicious!!

Very impressive food porn!

I can cook, but I have no baking skills. Thank goodness I live near a bakery.

Thank you. :)

I made a delightful apple tart this weekend but I can't get the pics the right size limit to upload and show it. (I've got to adjust the camera settings on my phone.) So unfortunately the apple tart does not get to be shown off. It was delicious though. :D

That sounds good too! (It just dawned on my that I might be slightly biased right now because I'm hungry LOL)

:p

Nice!! I love baking. You did a beautiful job on it. Looks delicious. :)

That looks delicious. I'm not much for baking though I've done a few sugar cream pies and quiche. Cookery is one of my favorite words. I regret that it has taken me almost 50 years to appreciate cooking my own food.

You made your own dough? Seems like that is becoming a lost art. It's so easy to grab something pre-made from the store that I think many don't bother making things from scratch. It takes effort but the end result is better than anything you can buy and won't have all the junk they put in it.

Yes from scratch. I enjoy working with dough.

I've made croissants, puff pastry and danish. I want to try something like brioche but I am not a big fan of it. It's okay but not a lot of tooth to it. I'm sure homemade is better than the stuff I've bought in the store. But sometimes I just want to make something to see if I can.

So I was in a pretty crappy mood earlier. So I made cupcakes. Chocolate chocolate chocolate cupcakes.

When life hands you a bad mood, make some cupcakes.

Chocolate cupcakes with chocolate pastry cream filling with chocolate glaze frosting.

Fresh out of the oven, out of the pan:

Croissants. I've had a love hate relationship with these things for years, but I think I've finally got them whooped. I'd say this is my best batch yet.

The completed dough. Three of four to go in the freezer for another time and one left to do stuff with.

The blank canvas, as it were.

Which ended up becoming two standard croissants, five ham and cheese medium croissants and three small dessert ones - a bit of chocolate and marzipan candy inside.

The beginning of the rise.

Near the end of the rise.

Into the oven.

The finished product...

She is awful purty. :D

The inside...

The ham and cheese ones.

The mini dessert croissants.

------

I've come a long way with these things. The first ones I made years ago were more like hockey pucks than bread. :D

Good Lord, if you're as good in the bedroom as you obviously are in the kitchen, I may have to start stalking you!!:rose::kiss:

They look very tasty. No sexual intentions meant. Not that I didn't think about it. Hey, I am a guy.

Eclairs!

I got a new KitchenAid stand mixer - this time the professional series. I got the mid grade one about 20 years ago. Costco had them on sale and made it so I could not refuse.

First off... dueling stand mixers...

attachment.php

Now on to the fun. I have a history with eclairs. They are probably my absolute favorite dessert ever. But I am picky about my eclairs. No artificial pastry cream and a dark chocolate frosting glaze. Happiness wrapped in baked choux paste. :)

The pastry cream. Made with real vanilla bean, cousin Eddie.

The choux paste before it goes into the oven.

attachment.php

The choux paste as it is coming out of the oven.

attachment.php

Vented - must let the steam out or you will have unhappy soggy eclairs And that would be sad.

Eclairs... part two...

Filled and capped, save three.

attachment.php

Filled, capped and ready for frosting.

attachment.php

Mmmm, all frosted.

attachment.php

And last, but not least, ready to eat.

attachment.php

And I can attest, it was damn good. :D

Holy shit, congrats girl!
I like to cook, but damn if the only thing I can bake are pizza's & sour milk soda bread.
Haa haa my latest kitchen fetish/monstrosity has been the bastard child of a deep dish pizza & lasagna. Basicially a lasagna inside pizza dough done in a spring form pan.

It's more a party favour, the "WTF is THAT" looks are priceless.
Pound of sausage, pound of grated provolone, pound of chorizo, pound of bacon, half a package of lasagna noodles...it's a 10lb monster. Lol but yeah it tastes DAMN good in all the wrong ways.

Excuse the cast iron pan in the background, I was halfway through rehabbing it. Should've seen it when I started. Lol saving cast off cast iron cookware is another kitchen OCD problem with me. Working on a gallon dutch oven this weekend, lol.
