More kink better rating

After three stories posted and a bunch of reading: basic gonzo porn appreciated and rated higher by males: the more perverse the higher the rating: females prefer fantasy settings more so than males.

My stories are written in a similar style, being by same newby author. Similar in descriptive language and grammar too. Lowest rating: basic sexy encounter. Less than 4! 3.57! Over 4 is acceptable.

Could you maybe add a link to your stories in your signature?

Yes, one of the general laws here is that challenging stories get low votes and pandering tales rake in the high ratings. Not always, but often enough. I wrote two inadvertent interracial incest stories that are nearly the same. In the first (AS SIMPLE AS BLACK AND WHITE?) the participants are two cousins and their aunt. A kinkier change was requested, so in the second story (BLACK & WHITE & RED ALL OVER) they're two siblings and their mother. Both stories have red H's. Guess which is rated higher? And my stories I consider most challenging have the lowest scores, just barely above 2.0. Imagine that...
 
My highest rated story features plenty of kink and violence, hit men are shot and fed to alligators, 3 punk kids are toasted when their gasoline can explodes while torching a building, the main character fucks a pregnant cop, etc.
 
My highest rated is 8 pages with no sex until part way down page 7.

At this point when I write something that is along the lines of a stroker I get "Not your usual, you can do better"

I am paying the price for having smut with depth:rolleyes:
 
There's kink and there's kink. I just finished an eleven-chapter series in which I thought the hotness was pretty evenly distributed. The lowest-rated chapters were those in which either the heroine broke up with a lover or the characters peed or pooed on each other.

Never having grown up, I think bathroom kink is uproariously funny, but a significant number of readers don't agree with me. :mad:

Funny? I will join you at the 12 year old level. My mother still thinks its hilarious when I armpit fart songs for her so that tells you where I come from.

But a shit fetish is not hot or sexual in anyway to me. Neither is pissing, but its less gross. All I can think of is the body gets rid of that for a reason and I cannot think anything good can come of being that unsanitary. :eek:
 
Kink level also depends on category. EC is a far more stroke oriented category than Romance and in sci fi non human and erotic horror you can get away with next to nothing.

That's funny. Armpit music does nothing for me. I'm sure a RL excretion fetish is not possible for me either, but in stories ...

Well, I'm trying to teach my characters better hygiene.

Hygiene is important to some readers here. I did a couple of scenes where there was ass to mouth and got a lecture about how unsanitary that is.

For that I let it fall under, It's porn, who cares?

I certainly would not be surprised if this was so. However, three stories is a pretty small sample size, and there are bound to be plenty of other variables in any given story to consider. If there's a reliable formula for popularity, most people never discover it.

I like writing BDSM fantasies, but it's scary there. They let you know in no uncertain terms when you get things wrong, but they reward you with generous praise when you get it right.

I have a twp part story here called Breaking of Allison. I really walk a fine line it and even cross it a couple of times. I did this on purpose to gauge reactions.

If you look at the comments I got many saying "That's hot" and many calling out it was closer to non consent so got some from both sides of the coin.

Shame is, it is part of a full length novel so people don't see the full lead in or what happens afterward which would greatly change their opinions.

I just now read your story, interested by what you said about the reactions. The beginning is like the beginning of my "Emily" series, with the edging and the emphasis on the safeword--and what goes on at the beginning of each of my chapters could have been interpreted as torture, but no one got on my case about it.

The difference is of feeling and context. You set up an endurance contest with a prize at the end (which the heroine wins). Mine was a romance, with every harsh scene followed by aftercare and a cuddle.

See that's the point about not seeing the afterwards. Mark goes from raging out of control bad boy to cleaned up, well dressed smooth talking pretty boy and Allison finds herself swooning for that image and ends up seducing him later on "her way"
