My mechanic tells me i need to pay 500 big ones +gst to replace and fit new engine mounts in me old holden. So I thought I'd shop around a bit. Took the beast around to another place and told the bloke I needed new engine mounts and he said "350 each." When i said I'd been quoted 500 from my mechanic he said "Yeah, between 250 and 350 each for a V8."

I said "Righto thank you." And left.

Seriously guys. Fuck. Just because I'm female doesn't mean i dont know what the fuck is involved. 2 engine mounts probably cost 100. Labour? To lift and drop the frame and fit would probably take around 4 hours max. The fuck outta here with your 500-700. Cunts.

ETA: As it stands, I have a screwdriver and philips and a pliers etc. on hand. Otherwise I'd make time and do it myself. Bloody crooks!

Aww. No, it's not that I can't get tools, or even get a mate to repair my car for nothing. I just don't have thd time to do it myself. I wish I did. I've made a few changes to my hours at work, so instead of going in 4 days a week, I go in 5. It actually works out as less hours but it's better that I'm there. Plus I'm busy after work with training and the kids and this that and twat not.

That's the reason I pay my mechanic to do most of the stuff that he does. I'd rather spend my time doing something else. Although, once upon a time, I didn't have that choice to make.

Pay mechanics to do the repair type stuff. Maintenance like brakes and oil/plug changes do yourself. Then you have some extra cash to pay for repair type things.
