Oh well, the last guy from Motörhead died

Motorhead guitarist 'Fast' Eddie Clarke dies at 67 - Eddie Clarke, the last surviving member of Motorhead's classic line-up, has died at the age of 67. He played with Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister and Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor in the heavy metal band between 1976-82 and on the first six Motorhead albums.

R.I.P. 'Fast' Eddie Clarke
R.I.P. Würzel
R.I.P. Lemmy Kilmister
R.I.P. 'Philthy Animal' Taylor
R.I.P. Motörhead

And my favorite Motörhead.....

Heroes (David Bowie cover)

Hellraiser (this was the song I used in "Nockatunga Station" - the spaceship was named after this song...)

Ace of Spades

When the Sky Comes Looking for You

Guess I'll never get to see these guys now...

Yeah and it'll be one of those "I wish I had" things now. They did some great covers too. I like Bowie but I way prefer Motörhead version of Heroes.

Here's a cover that's really out of character for Lemmy and I was surprised at how good it is.

My wish I had was Prince. Not my type of music in general, but the guy could flat out play guitar and was a hell of an entertainer.

Oh that one's on my play list. They did some great covers. I liked this comment about Lemmy....

about 30 years ago in London,me and my boyfriend at the time stayed at Lemmys place overnight. We where trying to sleep on the sofa and Lemmy was doing speed all night and watching Marx Brothers. He had all that war stuff and a Photo of a German number plate spelling FU CK.In the morning he asked us: Do you want breakfast? so we said yes and he went into the kitchen and came back with a sixpack of beer. He said: theres breakfast and when you're done we can go to the pub and have a drink. Blimey, I was only 20 but even then it was too much for me and I thought he's not gonna make it for long.

It's weird to think that every original member of Motorhead is dead. They're easily the second most important metal band in terms of influence after Black Sabbath, and it's always weird to think that an institution like that is officially gone.

Anyway, here's one of my favorites. Very out of character for Motorhead, and with some bonus Ozzy and Slash, because why not?

And something the original lineup did with their old opening act, Girlschool who was a pretty kick ass band in their own right.

Very sad to hear this.

The original line up was my favourite, although I liked the
sound they had with Wurzel and Phil too.

Eddie could fill out the sound very well on his own, wasn't
particularly a shredder but I liked his bluesy style.

Hoochie Coochie Man live is my favourite version of the song,
it's the one I've always done in bands, as long as there's a drummer
and bassist with the right feel for it. It often sounds flat and dragging its
heels when other people do it, even good blues bands.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but...

Not easy to cover a Metallica song and do it right, but they nailed it. Twice.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1LEsUzMai4

Whiplash. Won their first Grammy with this one. Guess that shows you how ass-backwards them fuckers are. Snub Metallica twice, then turn around and give it to another band for a cover. Not to say they didn't deserve it. 'Cause they sure as shit did.

It's been said when Motorhead covers your song, it's not yours anymore. I'd say that's about right.

Here's Sandman. Again, holy shit...

And here's one that made it all happen...

Nothin' like some good ol' fashioned Overkill to see things right.

When Lemmy died someone said ''I hope the devil stocked up, 'cause it's gonna be a loud night in hell''.

With the band back together, I'm pretty sure hell's about to crumble to the ground.

Not to be that guy, but "the last guy"? The last Motörhead lineup, consisting of Lemmy, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee, has been around MUCH longer than the "classic" line-up has. From 1996 up to Lem's death, almost 20 fucking years. If we want to be even MORE technical, Phil Campbell has been with Lemmy since '83 and Mikkey since '92. And last I checked, they're pretty much alive, as is Brian Robertson. So, yes, another Motörhead musician has died, but Eddie was hardly the last, nor was he even on a majority of the albums.

So, and to continue with something Lemmy always appreciated (namely NOT reducing Motörhead to Ace of Spades and their early stuff), you should go out and have a listen to Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons. Since Motörhead died with Lem, why not check out what his guitar man does now? Because that stuff sounds pretty good too.
