The Nerd Herd!

Ooo, this thread has possibilities of being right up my alley! :D

Here's my current geek. I'm going to run a role-playing game for the first time ever. Serenity. I game every Monday night with this group of guys (which includes MY guy). This is actually a system they haven't tried yet. I'm SO not going to be ready to do it anytime soon. It takes a while to memorize all the crap the person running it needs to know. Also the fact that I'm having to decide how to deal with stuff the people who wrote the "directions" screwed up on! Good heavens, there are way too many inconsistancies!

The guys seem to be really looking forward to this though. All but 2 have already created their characters. And I'm not going to have to introduce any of the characters so far created to each other because they've worked that out on their own. I'm getting such a kick out of that fact. You have to understand this group has been gaming together for over a decade now. Such geeks. :D

Aint it great?!

Ooo.

Serenity.

Shiny.

Really don't know why I haven't posted here. Some of my recent finds:

Did someone in here mention fetlife?

Good gravy, haven't left it since.

Love that kitten! It's the same one with the apples in the bed, right?

I wasn't really dissin' Felicia Day, or her Guild Chiara. I got nothing but love for her and her gang. I mean... I reeeeaaaally loooove her!

I want to have, like, ten thousand of her babies. Tee hee.

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disc abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report.

If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash,
and the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash,
and your data is corrupted 'cause the index does not flash,
then your situation's hopeless and your system's gonna crash!

If the label on the cable on the table at your house,
says the network is connected to the button on your mouse,
but your packets want to tunnel on another protocol,
that's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall,
and your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss,
so your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse,
then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang,
'cause as sure as I'm a poet, the suckers gonna hang.

When the copy of your floppy's getting sloppy on the disc,
and the micro code instructions cause unnecessary risk,
then you have to flash your memory, and you'll want to RAM your ROM...
Quickly turn off your computer and run and tell your Mom.

Geek here. Done tech support for years, Tabletop Role Playing Gamer of many systems, currently running a bimonthly Marvel Superheroes game with a homebrew setting, and playing in a bimonthly D&D 3.5 game with the same group. We may add Paranoia and a homebrew Giant Mecha game that we're playtesting. I have a conceptual understanding of physics and cosmology up to branes and string theory. I read comic books and write Kim Possible fanfiction. Those who read the pieces I put up here will be unsurprised that I'm a KiGo shipper in that fandom.

Star Trek and Star Wars fan, also a fan of Firefly.

I know how to fence, shoot anything from a recurve bow to a Remington 30-06 bolt action rifle. I have some basic survival training, and I learned to hunt from my father, who was a licensed New York State Bowhunting Instructor at the time.

I'm a voracious reader, and picking up new things all the time.

...and that's my nerd resume.

All you gamers played them right?

You should if you haven't.
