I've got my next hospital appointment to find out why my legs are wobbly and I have little sense of balance. The doctor's request for an urgent rush by ambulance to the ER was unnecessary. I told the ambulance operators that I had had the condition for four weeks and had driven back from the doctor's surgery. They downgraded my priority and arrived with an hour and a half. The ambulance staff checked my blood and heart - all OK as far as they could tell.
Six hours later I was discharged from the ER but with an urgent appointment within 48 hours for further investigations including an MRI of my head. That ruled out all the life-threatening conditions and I had to wait for a different specialist.
That is now scheduled for 1st March, fairly fast by NHS standards for something that is definitely NOT urgent.
Meanwhile, if I want a cup of coffee by my computer, my wife brings it upstairs. I can get up and down stairs using a stick and the bannister rail but not while carrying a cup of coffee. I don't have three hands.
But the coffee is always welcome.
